Thumbs up Route 66 Fun Run...What a riot !

Well I just got back home from the Run and it was a great time. There was seven Cobras and one little Ole' GT40. The trip to Seligman, Az was uneventful but a fun drive with all the other guys & gals. They did a good job of organizing this run and you got see a lot of neat places along the old mother Highway. Some of us did the poker run and that was fun but I didn't draw a good hand. At the show portion of the run on Saturday was good. It did rain a bit but the wind was a little heavy for some. There was all kind of cars there from every era I think. Some I haven't seen for a long time. On Sunday we all left for Oatman, Az then onto Golden Shores, Az for the finale. There was plenty see, do and talk about. I guess I just had a good time.
Ginny, Thank You for holding the rooms for us. You did a good job organizing this. I hope you are feeling a little better.
Dave, Thanks for those great tasting candy bars. I'm gonna get me a box full.
Brian, congrats on the plaque. I think you have a neat Rod.

Stuart and Malissa, Me and Paula enjoyed your company even though Stuart kept getting in trouble.

We did OK on the drive home from Golden Shores. We pulled in the gate at 6:00PM. Three and a half hours ain't bad. NO! we didn't speed either !
I do believe I'm gonna do this again next year.

Hersh,

What awards did you and Brian take home? Wish I could have gone all the way with you guys, but some priorties take precedence. Ginny and I will do the whole route next year.

From what I gather the number of cars in attendance was down this year. 2 years ago we had 750 and 1 cobra. Last year about 600 and 4 cobras. This year 7 cobras, 6 from AZ Cobras, and about 567 cars. Seems as the number of cobras increases the number of others are down.

I'll have some pics to post later tonight. Dave sent them to me but were to many in one email. He is going to resend.

It was Good seeing Bill and Marilyn again. It amazes me every time I see the square-bird, knowing what it looked like before Bill worked his magic on it.

Vegan2 it was nice meeting you even if it was for just a short talk. Good luck with the ERA.

Mike

Thumbs up

I don't know Mikie, Maybe some folks think once is enough and that's why the lower numbers. I do feel there is room for improvement. They will figure it out and make changes I'm sure. I still had a good time.
Brian got a plaque for Best manufactured Rod....
I got one for best specialty car. The very first plaque they called was for Best Kit Car .a 1934 Ford 3 window coupe. The guy that won it went up and got the plaque and stated "my car ain't a kit, it's a real one". He was serious.

Yes, Bill's Bird is really something. I went over and gave it the once over while nobody was around. He did a beautiful job on it.

I too would like some of those pictures. I'll pick them off the site when you post them.

WOW! what a trip, I want to say thanks to Mike and Ginny you guys really kept this thing together nicely!

This was the first time the car was on the road for longer than a 20 min track event. We did go home with the "Best Manufactured Rod" Award I guess somebody has seen my garage and it resembled Detroit some how?? The guy that received the best kit car was sitting in back of me and wanted to trade plaques, in hind sight I should have, But we were caught up in the moment.....

It was nice to meet everybody and spend some time with fellow snakers, We had a blast (and some shots with Stewert, Melessia) wew, what a riot. I am glad that God blessed everybody and everybody got home safe. We are looking forward to some pictures, and will do this next year also!!
Brian
P.S. Thanks for stoping at every GAS STATION along the way! Yes the car gets 10.3 pmg on the highway........

Hi Mike:

Nice meeting you too. You didn't realize it, but my wife was standing in back of us when we first talked and she was comforted by your thoughts about Cobra's and by just seeing the wives/girlfriends that were along for the ride.

My big day is Saturday as I'm off to California to look at the ERA Cobra and if it is as described to me, bring it back to Kingman, AZ.

Also, guess who's picture was on the front page of the local newspaper on Sunday - me - looking at a roadster that a friend had just purchased.

Vegan2,

Most everything we do as a club is designed to get the ladies involved. The gals really enjoy eachothers company.

I have posted all the pics I have here. Just click on the camera Icon.

If anybody else has digital pics from the run please email them to me and I'll post then. I plan on updating my club-photo account soon.

Mike
