IS IT TABOO TO PUT ANYTHING OTHER THAN HALIBRANDS ON A COBRA. I CAN APPRECIATE THE CLASSIC LOOK BUT I REALLY WANT TO SEPERATE MY CAR FROM THE PACK. ON A FFR CAN I PUT ANY RIM THAT WOULD FIT ON A 5.0 MUSTANG? I WOULD LIKE AN 18 INCH CHROMED WILD LOOKING WHEEL. ANYONE IN THE WHEEL BUSINESS? THANKS...

It's your car put any rim on it you want if it makes you happy--

Personally on a Cobra I prefer the Hallibrand style rim--to me it just"looks" right

But each to their own

As said alreadt it is your toy and it should make YOU happy. I have the American Racing , Torq-thrust 2's in the 18 inch version and love the look. Try www.wheelsforless.com as a place to see photos. I have never bought anything from them just a place to look. Jeff C

Yeah! What they said. It really boils down to how accurate you want your car to look. If that is not your thing then put whatever suits your fancy

I disagree, I think you should put on whatever wheels make ME happy!!! LOL. Just kidding, but i do prefer the orig. Halibrand style knock-offs.

Just re-read your post, if you really want your Cobra to stand out from "the pack"--don't paint it red, blue, silver, or black, W/wo stripes, they are "a dime a dozen" as the saying goes

Seems every Cobra I chance to see is one of those colors

Technically, white isn't really a color...and that just leaves green, yuuucccchhhh!!!! no offense to anyone with a green one, I'm sure it looks good on you. as Rodney Dangerfield once quoted in Caddyshack. thanks for your input i especially liked jhein's reply.

I saw a dark green 427 Rollin' north on the 101 into burbank last night. From the quick glance I got it looked real nice.

THANKS I'LL DO THAT. I PICKED UP THE CAR TODAY IT LOOKS AWESOME. THE GUY I BOUGHT IT FROM SAID I MAY NEED AN INTERCOOLER FOR THE SUPERCHARGER DUE TO THE HOT SUMMERS WE HAVE IF YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO HAS A LOT OF KNOWLEDGE WORKING WITH SUPERCHARGERS PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

As far as the supercharger question....There are a few in the valley none running an intercooler. You migt want to contact mikief in Tucson. He has been running a S/C for the past few years on his 347. Call Gordon and check with him. He has done many cars with superchargers.

There is another wheel choice. I believe that some of the originals ran on the Haibrand "Kidney bean" wheels. It's a deep dish wheel with five oval holes. They look pretty good, too. Chuck Beck makes a replica of the wheels for his Lister. It's another way to go and it's correct for the 1960's look.

Mikiec, what size wheel/tire combo are you running? I know there are better tires available for 17s but 15s just seem to look 'right'.

(Haven't even got my car yet, talk about the cart before the Cobra.)

I'm running PS Engineering Halibrand look-a-likes. 15X7 on the front and 15X10 on the rear. Tires are the wonderful. BFG Radial T/A's Sizes are front: 235X60X15 Rear 275X50X15.

I agree the 15's just look right. I don't race so the BFG's in 15" work very well for me.

The wheels are nice. I have Compomotives on my Cobra....a lot of "nooks and crannies" for brake dust to get caught in...very labor-intensive to clean. Is it me, or does the Lister look like a catfish?

Thanks Mike, that's very helpful. I'm planning a mild cruiser/streeter, In fact I'm leaning toward the 'Street Cobra' look, i.e. no roll bar or hood scoop. I'd probably keep the sidepipes because of the hassle of the undercar set up.
Has anyone here done or seen a bolt-in 3 or 4 point roll cage that could be put in if I did decide to try the track? I have a tubing bender and could fab one if there is room.
