Hi Mike, I took the Cobra in to a guy who has a very good reputation with EFI cars. As of last Thursday he had checked all of the systems and found that the computer relay was shutting down. He has to determine whether the relay is shutting down and then the computer or the computer is shutting down first. I've been in Palm Springs since Friday, I'll know more tomorrow afernoon. So far I've replaced four components and none of them were the problem, isn't that typical. I'm planing to have the transmission looked at before we go to Ohio. John

Tranny problem or just a fluid change?

John,

Keep us posted. I need to have you make another drive to PHX and do not want to be blamed for the failure

Hey Mikec, I got the Cobra back today. Two relays were replaced, the computer relay and the A/C relay, which is being used as the fuel pump relay. All of the internals were good on the computer. He could not duplicate the starting problem that I was having, thus the replacement of the two relays. He fixed the water temp gauge, the sending unit was bad - that's the fourth one !!! The gauge is inaccurate because it reads 230 degrees when a temp infrared sensor reads 200 at the sending unit. WHATEVER !!! He reset the timing to 10 degrees, after MikeF and I messed with it up there in Phoenix, but I'm getting a lot of pinging at 2000 RPM. Also, he reset the shift points for the transmission and it seems to operate much smoother. Yes, Mike I'll be in Phoenix BUT I WON"T TELL YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know that with the heat starting to build during the day that early morning departures are necessary, however, none of us Tucson guys can make Wickenburg by 9:00am, that would mean a 5:45am departure from Tucson. If you can make a run to the southeast of Phoenix, toward Globe, at a reasonable hour we'd be glad to join up with you. John

It wouldn't ping if it were REALLY at ten BTDC. Sure he didn't have an adjustable light(already set at 10) thinking it was at 0, then setting initial. Been there...done that. But only ONCE.
