Why didn't I finish this car in Oct.?
Gotta drive it but damn it's hot. 9:00 am is about the cutoff point. The sun is bad enough but I have some leaks in the firewall that feel like a blowtorch in your lap. Small leaks but they turn into a powerful force @ 70. Got the alignment today and going to DMV tomorrow. By the time I get out of there it could be noon. I may have to get a room for the nite. I'm just going to show up and hope they will work me in.

Jim,
When I get over there I'll show you how to reduce the air coming into the cockpit. Yes, it is to hot to drive.
That said I'll be out with mine tonight about 5pm. The hottest part of the day.
Good luck at the DMV. The process is very painless...

Mike, I'm bringing FFR C of O, invoice from FFR, and All Mustang receipt. Anything else? Patience? Copy of War And Peace?

That should be everything you'll need. The DMV you are going to .. Does it do a level 2 inspection? If not you'll need to get that done.
Also, have the FFR number (ie: FFR4122K) stamped on a metal tag and rivet it to the front X member. Makes the process smoother.

Jim,
I had mine inspected at the Greenfield / Baseline Branch, go in get the paperwork then jump in the car, drive in back for the teck line. I filled out the dics in line to save time. I wasa worried about starting the car up with the inspectors there, but everybody loved the car. Two gals gave it the once over, and the rest is history. 65 regestration, and historic plates for under 40 bucks, can't go wrong with that.
Mikie, where in the heck are you going in the hotest part of the day???? You crazy mon??? Wait till the sun goes down.....

Thanks Brian. It's actually on Valley Auto Dr. near Greenfield and Baseline. So I go in and ask for level 2 inspection paperwork, then drive the car in line?

Yep,
It was pretty painless.
After the teck inspection you go back inside and pull a number for the desk (if busy pull number first then go to teck) they will complete the paperwork. Are you getting custom plates???
I hope that you built a top for that Cobra, because I think that it's gonna rain in the east valley! Jim, good luck! was that going down today?? (thurs)

I just registered my spec racer last week at the Greenfield & Baseline office. At first they insisted that I had to title as a 2003 SPCON (special construction) roadster. After a lengthy discussion with the clerk & a supervisor, they finally agreed that it should be a 1965. Had to keep the "SPCON" as the model, though. I guess it all depends on which clerk you get.
Good luck!

For years homebuilt hot-rods were classed as the year they were built and had either re-con or Spcon. With the advent of Emissions testing the class was tested at the oldest year so you did not need specific emissions controls. Just pass a sniffer test. The standards for the test were very broad.
Recently the vehicles got registered as the year they represent...
However, if you have recon or spcon in the title I would check as it may need to be emissions inspected, 1967 standards, regardless of the year they give it.

Bob, you're right about which clerk you get. The thing is, it SHOULDN'T be that way.
