Default Holy Cow!

I got the $1,000 off postcard from FFR in the mail today, showed it to wife and she said we should go ahead and look into borrowing some rather than saving it all.
Now my 'responsibility' gene has kicked in and I'm thinking about our van with 90K on it, the roof that really needs fixed, the poor state of the kids college fund, etc, etc. I told her I had till after I got back from Vegas to decide to go for it a couple years earlier than I'd planned. Wow, this has gone from way-off-pipe-dream to a real possibility faster than I'd imagined.

What do you guys think, Rangoon Red, or British Racing Green?

Mike

I have 180k on my jeep without a lick of trouble. 90k is just breaking in.

BRG but throw in a few flakes to make it interesting.

I knew you guys would be able to give me an honest, unbiased opinion, thanks. Also just re-read the postcard (hands were shaking the first time ) I only have till Oct 31 to work it all out!
Supposed to rain Tues and Wed but we got buckets, and my girls are smart and good looking, I'm sure they'll be fine.

Damn that Dave and Mark. They are, "Berry bad men, berry bad!" (Baboo from Seinfeld imitation)

Did you say GOOD LOOKING and SMART? Did I hear dowry(sp)? I think you've got the FFR paid for, between the two you should have enough for an engine of your choice.

Mike,
I sold my beautiful Thunderbird S/C and drove the old van for 10 years and 442,000 kms so that I could finally build the cobra that I wanted for the last 15 years.

IT WAS WORTH IT !

I now have 20,000 miles on the Beast, lovin' every minute !

Perry.

Back off Woodz, they're still yungun's! I did consider selling the one that's nearing the teen years though, she's starting to get a smart mouth.

Don't worry Earl, I got one quarter for each family member to play in Vegas, that's my limit.

HPD, I've been driving a cobbled together '91 Escort for 6 years, but it's the wife who drives the van, so there's a limit to how bad/old it can get.

I survive the 4 women (Mama, 2 girls, plus a female dog) by having a home office in my shop next to the house. It's my 'estrogen relief' zone. The cacophany that 3 girls can create could easily drown out a Cobra at full throttle.

Of course this is my opinion. My parents told me if I wanted to go to college I would have to pay for it myself. They said something about I would take it more seriously if I paid for it myself.

I never did got to college and I am still able to do the things I wanted. Obviously certain professions do require college like doctors ect. But for the most part, how many of the college students actually use their degree? A large number of my fellow co-workers have degrees up to masters. They are still paying off their loan and we make the same amount of money.

Who knows what your kids will want to do. But you and I know they would appreciate it more if they did it themselves.

I would throw out the college consideration and chalk it up that if they want it, they work for it. As for the roof, how much is a thing of shingles and nails? If the car breaks down, duct tape is the answer. You will have your dream car in the garage!

Of course I have been told I am not the most responsible person around.

Pink, I figure the girl's worth at least some 15" Trigo knock offs and a set of Goodyear rubber. Not much use for yardwork but she's entertaining, she sings, plays piano, clarinet and can pick out tunes on my guitars when she takes a mind too. She's also good (better than me at least) at GameBoy.

I'm with you Jason on the DIY college thing. I wasted the one year my folks put $$s up for. When I had to pay for myself I made it count. You just always want the best for 'em ya know? And yes, 3 years of college dosen't come in real handy when printing T-shirts.

Valpodoc 4 girls !?? Ya know, they know what causes kids now.

Mike

Nahh, she's still cute and fairly sweet. In fact, I guess I'll keep 'em both.
