Pro Auto Sports HPDE School
There has been intrest in the possibility of getting a group of Cobra owners together for a special class on driving these cars.
Larry Pond the same person who raced these cars for several years in the 60's and 70's, and competed against Bob Bonderant would like to extend his company ( www.ProAutoSports.com) for a special class on driving Cobra's. This class will deal with the Cobra's, and the special skills needed to be a Cobra driver.
There is a classroom sesion that will cover driving basics, and special information on the Cobra chasis. Larry has also offered to help diagnose the handling of your car if needed. Larry has specific knowledge of the Cobra's and he has offered to share this with us. Also there will be instructors available to help us learn to drive (not Michelle) This would be a Cobra only session, and would not include other cars in our group.
We are still negotiating a date, and cost. What we need are a show of hands on how many would be interested in doing this event. Please add a response to give me an idea of who would like to attend.
Keep it above 100..........................
Regards,
Brian

I've take Bondurant's course and liked it a great deal but I'm VERY interested in this course especially with the chassis tuning aspect as well. My attendance would only be predicated on WHEN exactly - obviously weekends are best and not if it conflicted with a couple of other events that i've scheduled (Early Feb, Mid Feb, mid March)
December and January are pretty clear for me.

Brian,
I would be interested in taking a "Cobra Owners" class also. I am also a member of Pro Autosports and looking forward to running more of their events. As a matter of fact, I just picked up one of Bondurant's Mustang GT's to run in Larry's BondoStang class. So count me in for the Cobra deal. Will you be at the next event, 11-7,8 & 9-03 at Firebird?
Bill

Brian,
I'll be glad to take another course in driving. Maybe I can learn how NOT to SPIN OUT at the end of straights. Keep in mind I work every other weekend. So it's 50/50 whether I can attend.

Stang..........
I have a Shelby Cobra (rep). My wife has not given me more money to spend on another car as of yet. The Driving class was strictly going to focus on the AC type Cobra's, not the mustang versions. Thanks for the thought, and maybe someday...................
Regards,
Brian

Mike,
I will run the Cobra if we plan a Cobra only thing at Firebird. I am running the Mustang Nov. 7,8 & 9 at Firebird. I figure that I can get the racing experience with the Mustang without tearing up the aluminum. Somehow racing the Cobra sends a chill up my spine.
Scott,
I paid $8500 for the Mustang, race ready. He has 17 cars left. Let me know if you are interested.

I'm in for the school if time allows.
Also what are the specs on those mustangs? I might be interested. I take it they are cheap because they've been beat to hell?

Adam, the Mustangs have been taken care of pretty well. When you buy the car, you get the entire maintenance history of the car. Mine had a brand new long block 2300 miles ago. They put all new brakes on the car along with a new set of Goodyears and change all the fluids. Mine has pretty good paint on it. Some don't. The cars are modified for racing and that's just what we are going to do with it with Pro AutoSports. How can you pass it up for $8500? They also have some later model SVT Mustang Cobras, but they are more money.

Thanks Slither. What engines do they put in those babies? I might just have to pick one up.
I'm actually going to Bondurant for a 4-day racing school session on Dec. 1st. Think they'll still be around then?

Jim,
How are you coming along with the drive train install? If you need help I'm sure we could get a bunch together to help.

Thanks for the kind offer - i think i might be the slowest at building the BDR - but there have been lots of problems - I am currently looking for a shop to build the driveshaft - I have talking to the DriveshaftSuperStore in Phoenix - waiting for a reply --
I might need the help to bring this to closure I really want to drive to the party on 12/6 - but first i need to get the parts --
Thanks

Adam, they use the standard 5.0 in the Mustang GT's. Of course, the Cobra's have the 4.6 in them. The cats are removed, an H-pipe installed and the computer reprogrammed. I'm sure they will still have a few left by Dec. 1st. Ask for Ken Thom. He is in charge of the place and handles all the sales of these cars.I am planning on taking the 3-day course but haven't set a date yet. They are great people to deal with. Bob even autographed my dashboard!

Drive line....
Jim,
I used Mesa Driveline, good service and they knew exactly what I wanted. They have a web site, where it shows you how to measure for the proper length of drive shaft. I would go back to them in a heartbeat great service.
Just a thought................
