Default The Tree is there...

Looks like the phantom tree decorators got there early this year. The tree is 2 miles north of Sunset Point on I-17 in the middle median.

For those who do not know, this has been happening for the past 20 years or more. Some one goes out in the middle of the night and decorates a tree on the interstate. Usually after Thanksgiving and then it is gone after Jan 1st. Those who do this have never come forward and identified themselves.

Cool! Mike, are you familiar with the bear head on 87 about 10 miles north of the Four Peaks turn off? It had Christmas decorations on it then after 9-11 it has flags.

Mikiec,
We have graffitti artists here in California who can do that in 5 minutes...

Neat touch for the holidays.

I saw the tree when I was headed up to Prescott to visit my inlaws on Wednesday. Its always nice to see it year after year, kind of like an old family friend that we look forward to seeing during the holidays. I just know that one of these days they will find a way to light it up also.

Jim,

I do not recall the tree on 87. I guess it's time for a cold road trip.

Need, I know what you mean. I take that trip at least once during the holidays just to see where the tree is. I was surprised it was done so early this year.

Turk, These guys may come from the graffitti bunch as they do this in the middle of the night.

Mike

Talking

Hey Mike,
A few years back, while I was coming down I-17 in the dark, I saw two DPS squads parked in the middle of the median. I caught a glimpse of a guy on a step ladder near a small tree as my headlights swept passed. I thought it was odd but never paid it any mind cause the DPS was there and all. It was around Thanksgiving too. Could this be the phantom tree decorators??

The DPS is doing the tree? Or are they assisting those that do. Either way I enjoy looking for the tree.

My hats off to those that do it...

Mike
