Oooooh. So close, Jeff.

Interesting guesses from all -- especially about the only FE in the group. And just because he didn't rev it up as much...

I guess some of the subtleties ARE lost when recorded vs. when you are there in person.

Okay -- here are the actual match ups:

#1 542 Chevy
#2 Stock Ford 302
#3 468 cu in w/Nitrous OWNER (Bob Broberg)
#4 347 Ford built by Gordon
#5 Cleveland
#6 429 w/gear drive
#7 460 Ford
#8 390 FE

You do miss a little in the recordings vs. being there in person. While the 390 doesn't sound as "agressive" here, it definitely sounded cool in person. I'd have to say the Cleveland also had a great sound -- but I'm guessing it has a more radical cam or something else to contribute to the sound. The 347 IS nasty sounding, but overall I liked the big blocks the best.

I hope you all had fun with this experiment, and thanks to Bob Broberg for being such a good sport!

Ben

That is very interesting.

The Cleveland has had lot's of work done to it. Also, the owner likes his idle a little low to increase the lope.

The owners/make are:

#2 Stock Ford 302.. Lyle
#3 468 cu in w/Nitrous OWNER (Bob Broberg)
#4 347 Ford built by Gordon... Fitz/FFR
#5 Cleveland.... Stuart/SMC
#6 429 w/gear drive...Brian/Lonestar
#7 460 Ford...John
#8 390 FE... Jeff G./Hi-Tech

I am sorry I couldn't make it to the party. I had every intention of being there, but I have a good excuse. I broke mine that afternoon at Arizona Motorsport Park. Nothing that money can't fix and as I told my wife, who was convinced I would be hysterical, "At least it's not on fire".

I had a great time putting in some track time. I was running in a HPDE1 group with 5 brand new Porsches and the Cobra was certainly keeping pace and holding the corners like glue. As I finally got waved past the Porsche in front of me and started making my way by him it all stopped. No throttle at all and then POP. It turns out that I sucked some wire from the oil pickup screen into my oil pump, the pump seized, the distibutor shaft stopped, and the distributor gear sheered.

Did I mention it wasn't on fire? Sorry I missed the party.

By the way, I pick it up from B&R Automotive on Monday. I must thank you all for the recommendation. I have had to have it there twice and they have been professional and competent. I almost don't mind spending the money when I know the work has been done right and fair.

Sorry for the non-sequitir.

The 302 belongs to Lyle (with the hard top).

The 460 was John's (Ole Yellar -- the yellow SPF)

Thumbs up

Hey Ben,
Thought the whole deal was fun and found it tougher than expected to pick out engines other than mine. Here is a ? but maybe too much work. Can you link car photo to engine sound track?
I would like a copy of the engine sound file of my own ca if you would be so kind to drop me an email . Not sure the site needs it so maybe send it to my personal address. Do I have permission to put on my web site? jeffc@cobrasnvettes.com
Thanks a bunch!

Jeff -- most of the clips don't really have a video file to go with them -- I was really using the camera only to capture the audio files. With yours, however, I did get a bit of your exhaust pipe. I have this stuff set up at my office, so I'll have to check tomorrow how much I have of your car on camera.

Another thing we can do is video tape some more. I'd be happy to get together some time to video some more a footage -- audio AND video. Think about what you'd like to see (and where we could do it...) and let me know.

One thing to keep in mind -- video files are pretty huge. For example, Mike's burnout is about 3GB. If your site can handle the file sizes, I can always burn them on to a CD and send it to you (e-mailing files that big would probably be a problem). Let me know if you are on a PC or a Mac.

For the sound file that is posted, you should be able to download it from the link. If you need it in a different format, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Oh -- and yes -- you have permission to put the stuff on your web site!

Jeff -- I just checked the files. Really nothing on camera that shows your car. But like I said, we can video tape some more... :-)

Ben,

No problem just thought I would check and maybe in the future we can do a short video recording. I guess I could always link to a still photo and those I have. Think I will add sound track to web as you allowed me to do and THANKS. The whole thing was a lot of fun, they did sound a little different on tape but tougher than susspected to identify.
