PNJSNAK,
State Farm said they don't cover replicas here in New York. I was kind of pissed about this seeing a lot of Cobras are covered by them in other states. I'm still looking.

You will find that many of the carriers such as State Farm, Allstate, Nationwide etc. vary from state to state. On top of that they will vary from agent to agent price wise. Look for people in your state and talk to their agent. I have yet to speak to an agent for one of these type of companies that would write a policy outside of their state.
Here in Ohio we seem to have it pretty good for the moment. If I told you the details of my policy all of you would turn green

I have State Farm-- $35,000 agreed value -----
It is insured as a classic/historical vehicle and they know it's a replica --- unlimited miles ---
The price was the best I could find--- $125.60 per year ---

Mr P
Allstate does my car for $1,200- per year. It is on the policy with the rest of my cars.... Not a bargain compared to everyone else is it?... They insure quite a few of these cars in California, I suppose it does depend on the agent etc.... Does this group meet for breakfast on Saturdays ? I can compare notes with you then.

Steve, yeah, 1200 is a bit steep. No Sat. regular meetings, but usually a run a couple times a month. That's why I have so damn many miles! I actually have a pretty good deal $225 for 6000 miles. I would like to have 10,000 miles.

I think alot depends on your agent and the underwriter as to whether a company wants to write you or not. A lot of these guys are grandfathered in to companies that no longer insure cobras, like Grundy. I'm happy for those who have not had the challenges that Jim and I have experienced but the fact is it is very difficult to find a moderately restrictive policy in AZ.

Jim
Actually, I do not have any mileage or other restrictions.. I insured the car as a commuter car along with the rest of the fleet.... agreed value $45000- call Eric at the agent I sent you. I have been with Allstate a long time and have insured some really fast cars with them in the past, so it may be that the Cobra is just another unit to them.. I do recall that these cars have a very low claim rate (probably because there are very few of them) versus say a Corvette or Viper ....

Thanks for rubbing a little salt in the wound by telling us how cheap you get your insurance for! 'Course then, I rarely miss the opportunity to tell you about our great sunshiney weather when you Buckeyes haven't seen anything but gray and gloom for weeks on end...and that's in the summer! I'll pay my high priced insurance and suffer through 110° many times over before I'd move back to the "North Coast". Made my escape 26 years ago and still lovin' it. Oops, sun's going down and the temperature's dropped to 62°.. better git ma sweater on.

I've got 3 inches of ice on my driveway as I type.
I couldn't get the Cobra out if I need to--and Paul would need to put a chain on his 4 wheeler and then pray.
Are you going to the Fling with that Chevy powered ChevaCobe? I know why you hesitate-- I promise not to get on it when you are around.
Well, if the temp warms up this weekend, I may start the Cobra, in the garage and mine is heated.
Oh well-- Karl--if the damn stock market would just turn around I would be with you.
Enjoy --
Mike

I have Condon & Shely 800-257-9496. 7500 miles; pictures of car all sides and engine and yearly mileage numbers at renewal. They run it though MetLife; I am paying $852 (full coverage just like my othe regular cars) per year based on value which is lower then what I have in the car. I didn't want to be lying about the milage in case some idiot with no insurance runs into me.

I called State Farm today to get coverage for my Lister and they said that it would be around $480/yr based on a $40K stated value but I would need to get an appraisal first to determine that the car is worth this much. Can any of you in the East Valley that have State Farm direct me to an agent that will skip the hassel of getting an appraisal?

I had Allstate coverage on my SPF here in Washington state @ $900 a year, limited mileage. They would not insure my new to me NAF 289.
And we have all of our insurance coverage, other cars, home, rental properties, secondary health, life, etc. with them, and have had for almost 20 years.
Insurance companies IMO________ (fill in the blank)They definitely control the game---what you gonna do? You really need it in this litigationist age.
Got coverage with American Hobbyist @ agreed value of $35K, no mileage restriction, $ 340 a year.

Not trying to pulg any insurance company here but I have two Cobras with full coverage on them and one of them is a 1969 Torino Cobra like they raced in nASCAR and there were just 29 made in the configuration that mine is. I do have a 3,000 mile per year restriction which I can have raised but the 69 still has the original Polyglas tires and I don't approach the mileage limits. Mine went up this year for the first time from $775 a year to $802 per year and that is for both cars. The replica has an agreed value of $45,000 and it doesn't appreciate over then years. You can use this as a price comparison to what you are paying and it may help.

It would be wise to sit with your agent, if you have one, or have a drink and really read what the policy says it will cover and all the rules. I have asked several guys about their policies before I went with Condon & Skelly. They like several other people mentioned wanting pictures and agreed value and mileage limits up to 7500. I am paying about 852 full coverage based on about 42,000 I think with full windshield replacement and doesn't mention all the driving restrictions?
I have found over the years most of us, me included, do not read the small print, and then something happens and ...surprise! It is not covered. It is like reading and questioning a financial statement. Most all of us say we understand where the numbers come from, but don't know where to go and get the numbers? Samething with insurance guys. Most of the language is written by attorneys so no wonder no one can understand the policy. The language is suppose to be confusing and misleading. Kind of like Clinton was
