Speedworld Drag Night
The verdicts in... we race!
After 45mins of negotiation here's what Speedworld has agreed to:
1. We can bring our cars on an evening in September which they will designate as their "Club Night". They will get back to me this week to assign the exact date and time.
2. Everyone must wear a helmet and they would like us to wear a leather jacket (Sucks I know) but he did say that it can be any leather jacket and doesn't have to be NHRA approved.
3. He wants to cap us off at 12.0 in the 1/4 mile. If you run under 12.0 then you will get one warning, but still be allowed to race. At that time you will have to pull out early and calculate your time off 1/8 mile. Good news is you still get to drag, bad news is if you want to see how fast you can really go, you'll get one shot at it. If you do it twice, your gone.
4. Costs for this will be $15 dollars for racers and $10 for spectators.
I will get the remaining details this week and pass them along. For those of you who have never been, here is their web link to get directions.

That sounds great. I hope I can make it.

As a club we have been to Speedworld 2 times before and only once has a member been warned to slow down. As a group we have been so responsible that one time the management let one of our members with a chevy 454 and a 3 stage nitrous (400hp) to all out driven by a regular racer/builder. He tried but broke and ran a 29sec pass at 41mph.

Sounds like the folks at Speedworld are pretty racer-friendly. Definitely looking forward to making the trip. Even an 8th mile time would be interesting, not to mention the coveted 60' numbers. Personally hope the date is closer to the end of the month so temperatures should be lower.

Yes, that is true, Karl, but unless you have "sticky" tires you will have trouble going under 2.0 sec in 60 ft. Your 1/8 mile time/speed will dissappoint you. You need the 1/4 to let your torque work for you. I cannot use the nitrous for sure. I have a 12.0 time slip.
The people at Speedworld are friendly as long as you follow rules. You will most likely be put up against motorcycles or other cobras (if requested.)
Don't try to brake and turn in the first exit past the finish - that's for small blocks. Go to the end.
Sept 8th or Sept 22nd are good for me and work schedule.

Thanks Bob, my tires do pretty well since I went to 345.55.15's fron the 325.50.15's. The additional 2" taller and 2" more tread has made the car hook up pretty well. Still burn about 30', but at least its in a straight line instead of all over the place. I never have yet tried them below 20#s or after a serious burnout to heat them up. They should do even better.
Know anyone interested in some gently used 325 Drag TA's? they're on 10x15 ARE wheels with a Chevy, 4 3/4 bolt pattern.

Madik,
Thanks very much for the efforts to set this up.
Just keep us informed of when and I'll be there.
Is someone going to let Mikiec know so he can send out an e-mail and hopefully boost attendence?
Thanks again and good job!

Mikiec knows all and see all. Do not mind that man behind the curtain.....
Seriously as soon as I see a date I'll get out the info.
