10/24 AZ Drags at Speedworld
Mikiec is incommunicado so he asked me to speak with Victoria @ Speedworld about Sunday's gala. I told her we were expecting 4-6 Cobras but hope for more. The track opens at 9AM and she said the same rules will apply for us as last time. Helmet, leather jacket, long pants, quicker than 12.0=a warning, do it twice and you are booted. They do sell several different flavors of racing fuel there and the 107 I bought last time was $5/G. Yep, sure smelled good.

What is entry fee and will other cars be scheduled or is there an event going on at same time? I am wondering how many passes and in what time frame? Tech at 9 AM and runs start when?
Thanks for your help.

Tech is minimal. Runs probably start 9:30am. Fee is standard $15 I presume. Bring helmet, long pants, leather jacket, change of jockey shorts. No event, just Club Day. Leave sheep with Steve and Barbie with Jim.

Don't know what or how many other clubs will be participating but Sunday is also race #10 for the AZ Drag Racers Assoc. or some such thing. There will probably be a pretty good turn out with some nice cars to watch. It will just do wonders for my soul to line up against some 10 sec. ring-ding-ricer and get blown into the weeds.

If our past visit is any warning, our club would run about once per hour in a rotation with other clubs and normal competition. Just guesswork. Jeff, you do need shoulder harnesses with a topless car.

I am getting the feeling that Karl and I may be the only Cobras there Sunday and at different times even. I may just back out and run the next Wed night scheduled for the AZ Cobra Club. Got other places to go Sunday after the Tortilla Flat Run on Sat. GCC swap meet for one, Car Show for another.

B.B. I'm planning on being there at 9 when they open. Scottie C. from Tucson said he'd thought he'd make the trip. I thought Eric, (itbites), Jeff C, MikieC, you and I were talking about being there. Hoping some others gather up the huevos and make it. Just don't get that many chances to totally thrash the cars without the threat of The Man wanting to get into our wallets.

Hey all,
So far I am planning on playing with you all. Bob was concerned if I had shoulder harness. Yep SFI 5 point chassis tab mounted harness, all 3 drive shafts have safety hoops, SFI balance, SFI tranny blanket, Batteries tied down with 3/8 retention bars, roll over sw on injection fuel pumps, SFI legal fuel cell, deadman battery disconnect and chassis mounted 0.125 wall DOM 3 point roll bar but not 5 point cage. Hell I have an NHRA advanced ET liscense good enough for the Alky funny car to run 6's w/o current medical sign off though.

Jeff, glad to hear that you're planning on making it to the drags this time. With you, Eric, and me, the Chevy powered cars might out number the FoMoCo powered ones. I have no doubt that you both have the power to get your warnings and then get thrown out. Eric was really close with his 12.09 last time. Even though you "detuned" your monster motor, you'll probably just show me your tail lights and then laugh at me. Traction wil be the issue. No doubt that Bob B's car will also make tons of power, if he can just get it to the pavement. He said he'll hit the go juice this time so I'm looking for him to be pretty darn formidable.

Jeff,
See you there. We can talk more about injection. Thanks for the intelligent discussions earlier.
Maybe you can help me make some power.
Karl,
I'm gonna run avgas. Don't care what anyone says. When they start to go by me, then maybe I'll listen.
Hopefully nice and cool to get the density altitude down
See y'all there.

We have several cars well into the (too fast) catagory. Traction is a problem but a properly prep'd track is worth a bunch. I also run a soft tire and the Suspension works surprisingly well. The transverse fiberglass spring and trailing arms function like a 4 link system. Although not forward mounted in 2 per side locations they do work to force weight transfer. Said in plain english the ass squats and squirts forward if I can get a little traction. With 18 gallon fuel cell + 2 batterys some 20 to 28 inches behind IRS axle centerline the leverage becomes substantial. All in all I am very happy with set up and feel far out performs a live axle setup overall.
No coil overs to wheel hop or leafs to wind up with wheel hop . Where these out perform my IRS is ability to handle brute torque. If I ever hooked up well I would spit parts and before they would.
The trick is to feed it throttle as she takes it. Think we will all have to lift at the 1/8 marker until ready to go home

Ok, Jeff you smooth talker, I'll be there Sunday morning. All you Chebby guys can beat-up on me without soft tires. I'll try to hold up the Ford guys reputation. My juice might help on top end with practice.

Jeff, sounds like you need to keep your eye on Bob B. if he's putting new tires on and talking about "old hard tires". ya know, I think he may have even swapped out that 289 engine. Cheeky Monkey!

Jeff, Hmmm, I hadn't thought about him putting in a '69 Z28 motor. No wonder it goes so fast!

Karl,
How many times have I told you... You should not ever put a chebby motor in a cobra. Doing so requires youto drive backwards....
Jeff,
I have no problem running full power on all runs. I never get kicked off..
