Annual Arizona Cobras party
So did you guys show early and then head out before the rain? I'm so bummed that I wasn't able to come out before the rain hit. First time I've missed annual meeting. One of the days I REALLY look forward to in the year!
You'd make my day if you were all thinking of a reschedule...
Ben

Ben,
I am not a member of your group, but I was wondering if you have any members in the Lake Havasu (spelling??) area.
A good friend of mine moved down there a few months ago. I really miss him as he is a geat welder and machinist and did most of my work for me when I needed something built or repaired.
Thanks,
Ron

Hi Ron,
Havasu is quite a ways from here. I don't recall anyone being from there, but Mike ("Mikiec") could tell you for sure. I'm sure he'll see this and respond.
Ben

Ron,
There are a couple of Cobras in the Havasu area.
Ben,
Great day. Over 30 cars including an original csx2XXX. We got soaked but it did not matter. The cars started to leave about 3 pm. Yes it was raining. I left about 5 after drying out my seats for the ride home.
Bob,
Spoke with John and gave him what for.
I'll have some pics to post in the next day or so.
Weather Flipping cold and very wet. The rain that was supposed to be here on Sunday came early.

Was devastated to learn I had to work today and miss the party. Even had a dish to pass. Sheesh! Especially now with one coming, I'm starting to "feel" like part of the Cobra gang. Hope all who did attend had a great time, despite the day-early rain (we got the same thing in the aviation forcast).
Cheers,
Steve

Dang it, dang it, dang it. Sorry I missed it.
What's the scoop on the CSX 2XXX car?

A BIG THANK YOU to Paula and Ginney for the work that they did on the party !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH, yes, to Mikiec and Hershel also. The Tucson group started out with six Cobras with three of them making the wise decision to abort the drive as we drove into rain shortly after leaving Tucson. This was the first time that I'd trailered my Cobra to an event, thanks Hersh for the use of it, since I broke down ( electrical problems) only a couple of miles from the party. The rain that the previous guys have mentioned negelected to say the it started about 11:00 am and continued all day. The lawn party was changed into a hanger / garage party as the rain flooded everything, including the Cobras. The Marines took away a pickup truck loaded with "Toys for Tots". Also the gift exchange went very well, lots of gift swapping and side comments about the use of the gifts. Hershel gave everyone an Anniversary gift , an Arizona Cobra bandana, He and Mikiec also gave everyone a cd and disc containing photos of the last three years of Arizona Cobra events. We all received free eye protectors , a gift from one of our new members in Sierra Vista, thanks Scott. After the party the hanger / garage was quickly transformed into a workshop for the Cobras that needed some work, flat tie changed, battery recharged, battery replaced, etc. As the last of the party goers left it was still raining. The two remaning Tucson Cobras made the 100 mile drive home in the rain. Oh, did I mention that the temp guage in the hanger never got over 42 degrees ! I thought that I was back in Chicago. John

I look forward to the party all year long and this year was no disappointment - great people, beautiful cars and Arizona in the Winter.
I want to thank Paula, Ginney, Mike and Hersh every year the party gets bigger and yet every year you all make it better -
It was great seeing the Tucson folks again - I went caving with them a couple of months ago - wonderful people - and i won't complain about my 35 miles sliding on the pavement in the cold rain - they drove in the rain up and back -
It was also great that the club muscle (MrPink) allowed us the opportunity to thank Mike for all that he does for the club - all threats of bodily harm aside
Happy Holiday Season to everyone

Paula and Hersh rule! Thanks for the great time. Good CD Mike. Took me 1 1/2 hours to look at them all. The highlight was Bob B. outbidding everyone on the inflatable sheep auction. He needed a new one. I have never seen one so worn out!

Here is a pic taken before the rain hit. Not all the cars are in this shot. The first car is Bill's CSX2252
more arrivals sky threatening.
John's car on the trailer, First time in over 30K miles.
Jackets everywhere... Wait, whos that fool in a t-shirt?

Sounds like a good time was had by most even with the Serpent Express weather.
In Oregon this time of year we don't plan any car events; still say AZ has the best weather for roadster driving 9 months a year. Occasionl rain not withstanding.
Oregon might be better July August & September but that's all.
Next year same weekend, first Sat in Dec 2005, Mike?

Only the Brave
Thank you for a great party, ya'll. So my Cobras got a little wet, so what. I was happy and impressed to see so many brave Cobras, many from out of town. Thanks to Hershal and Paula for allowing me to store my cars at their house until the rain stopped! The pictures are nice, too.

Yes, I have reservations for 2 at the (Headquarters) Cannery Hotel 1-866-999-4899. Will need a covered transport for CSX 2252 and/or SFM5s386, will pay my share for gas. I'm also going to SAAC-30 in Fontana, Ca. June30th to July 3rd with reservations at the convention hotel, Mission Inn in Riverside, Ca. 1-800-843-7755. Will need same transport (some thief took my enclosed trailer) to Fontana. This is a must-see event!
