Default Machine Shop in N Scottsdale/Cave Creek

My daily driver is sick and I need to work on brakes tomorrow. Does anyone know of a good machine shop if I need to get the drums turned? This would be in way north Scottsdale or Cave Creek. Also has to be open on Saturday.

Probably going to affect my picnic plans...

Wolverine, just about any Checker Auto or Auto Zone can turn your drums or rotors for pretty reasonable prices. There's a Checker at Scottsdale and Shea and there is probably a Zone or other Checker somewhere close to where you are.

Thanks, Karl. I didn't know they had a machine shop in their stores. There's a Checker at Cave Creek and Tatum that seems pretty decent. Back in SC, I don't think AutoZone did that (and I'm not sure I would have trusted them to, anyway).

Less than 30K on my DD and I'm getting a squeal/grind from the right rear. Seems pretty early for that to me. Is it possible to get a piece of sand/gravel in the drum? Does the desert do anything strange to brakes that I should know about?

30K is 'way early to have rear brake troubles. Sounds more like an adjuster or maybe a parking brake malfunction. Is possible to have gotten a stone but pretty unlikely. I usually get at least 100K out of the rears and usually even more since they don't really do much of your stopping. Good luck on finding something minimal. Hopefully it'll be something that can be fixed up with a little adjustment and some sand paper. Remember, big to the back, regarding the shoes. If there's one with a longer section of lining, it goes towards the rear bumper. Made the mistake once fourty years ago and have never forgotten.
