Default WSCB drive to Reno.

Hi guys, here is a quick recap of the WSCB trip that Stuart and I made. We left Phoenix about 9:30 am and headed off for Wickenburg, Stuart buys gas. then Kingman, Stuart buys gas, and into Reno, Stuart buys gas. We split up there and I headed for Pahrump,NV, while Stuart went north to Beatty, NV. The next day I drove into Death Valley and met Stuart at Scotty's Junction ( no place in the middle of no where). Being the great guy that he is, he waited 1 1/2 hours for me while I was delayed by road construction and an unplanned trip into the California mountains. He sat in a lawn chair in the sun and watched the day go by - Thanks for waiting Stuart ! From there we went to Tonopah, Stuart bought gas, then into Hawthorne, Stuart buys gas, and finally into Fallon, yes, Stuart bought gas. He headed to a visit with his parents in Carson City while I drove to Reno. About 6 cars showed up at the WSCB on Thursday but boy did they arrive on Friday, there were about 60 Cobras by evening. This was a day for cleaning our Cobras and meeting people. On Saturday, we as a large group of Cobras headed about 35 miles east to a new road race course in Fernley, NV. We were assembled into groups of 20 and told that we'd do 3 pace laps at about 35 mph, yea sure, my top speed was a tad over 80 because I was behind a slower Cobra. At this time a group of Cobras from the Reno area showed up and our numbers swelled to about 90. From there we traveled to Virgina City and the Bucket of Blood Saloon,( beer and popcorn for lunch).

John, it was great meeting you and Stuart. I am really surprised that we were the only three representatives from Arizona. We have to get Mikiec and others to join us next year. I am already planning for the Snakes To The Lake trip in October. Most of the fine people that were at the Bash will be at the "Snakes" trip. Was your trip home down 395 uneventful? I hope you guys made it home OK!

Bill

Good evening Bill, I expect to have my Cobra back about Oct 1st so count me in on the trip to the Snakes to the Lake. Is that going to be the same weekend as the Club Sandwich Kit Car Show in Laughlin? It was great to met you and your wife, Stuart and I had a wonderful return trip. Hope to see you on Sunday, June 5th , if you can make that drive. John

John, according to the Arizon Cobras events schedule, the Club Sandwich event is the 22nd & 23rd of October. There is no information as of yet regarding the dates of the Snakes To The Lake event. But I am sure that the guys will get some information here on Club Cobra in the next few months. They generally like to run that event the 1st or 2nd weekend in October. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the June 5th drive. I am glad that you two had a safe trip home. Happy motoring!

Mulv, you would have enjoyed the Bash because we got a tiny bit of track time at the Fernley race track road course. Maybe next year they will incorporate a whole day at the track. The Tahoe event is one of the best also. I wouldn't miss it! Are you going to St. Johns with ProAutoSports this Labor Day?

Mulv,

Yep, I'm going to St. Johns. I have to figure out how to get three Bondostangs and my Cobra up there. What's on the menu over there right now?

For the record I wanted to go.

I ended up freezing in Boston. The higest temp all week was 58 degrees. Most of the time in the 40's. it just re-inforced why I left there years ago.

If Snakes to the lakes is the same weekend as Club Sandwich, I'll be at the Sandwich run.

John, regarding the 5th.. depends on the heat. As far as Stuarts gas range. It's better now than it was a few years ago.

mikiec,

Generally, the Snakes To The Lake event is either the first or second weekend in October. There is a fear of snow that time of year. The earlier the better. You have no excuses this time, pal!
