New Cobra Guy
Hey Arizona,
I finally took the plunge, and purchased a pre-owned Backdraft. Shipping has been arranged, and i am anxiously awaiting its arrival. hopefull in less than 2 weeks my baby will be here.
i can't wait to get with you guys and do some rides. i'm anxious to get to "know" my car as well. I'm sure i'll have questions for the audience as my car gets here.
my question is,, who are you using for insurance? what are your thoughts on their service and prices?
cheers,
Joe

Joe,
I'm using Allstate who also cover my home and camp along with several other vehicles. I'm paying about $600 per year for my Backdraft here in NY. Make sure that you always refer to it as a "replica" rather than a "kit car" when talking to insurers. They seem to like that more for some reason.
One piece of advice (if you haven't much experience driving a Cobra): As the Sergeant on Hill Street Blues used to say "Be careful out there!" These cars are a ton of fun, but you have to respect them and their power at all times.
Let us see some pics when you get it.
Good luck with the insurance, and ENJOY your new ride!!!
Cheers!
Dave

Insurance info
Welcome to the madness,
I am a recent purchaser of SPF136, and this is the company that I used for insurance. Some limitations, 6,000 miles/year, no back and forth to work, must have another daily driver, SOS you will get from most companies.
Mike Smith was very easy to work with and we did everything over the phone and by email. I give them credit for fast responses, by voice and/or email. He even did stuff over the July 4th weekend. Cost-$approx 400
Good luck, and be careful. These cars can easily get away from you ---God bless them

Joe,
As soon as you know an arrival date, let me know so we all can come over, help you unload your new toy and basically make a huge mess in your house!!

State Farm for both of mine. They let me insure under their "Classic" policy and it's less that $200.00 per year for full coverage.

Joe, A few of us use State Farm. The cost is pretty much on based on your or an appraiser's estimate of what the car is worth. I am paying $190.00 every six months, the only limitation that I have is on mileage, that is limited to 7,500 miles a year. Give me a call when you get a chance. John #825-9197

Don't worry about your flying schedule. I'm sure one of the Tucson gang would be glad to take delivery for you....

Joe,
By the way, Allstate covers it as just another car in the policy I mentioned above. No limitations on milage, etc.
Cheers!

Hey
I used AHI on the car I sold to mobilenuke above. It was 270 a year, no mileage restrictions, no commuting, full coverage , etc... Allstate wanted $1,500- by the way... Insurance is REALLY expensive in AZ, more than twice as much as California when I moved here two years ago...

We blame the insurance increase on the Snow Birds and people that move here from California...
Steve who is AHI??

I use State Farm. They're one of the few I found that will insure a Cobra just like any other car. I have no restrictions on where I can drive. It's a little more spendy than the classic car insurance, though.

Flying schedule? What flying schedule? And how do you adjust it? I've been trying for a year and a half so I can ride with the group some day...
Sheesh!

it's here
hello to all,
after the cobra being picked up in FL on thursday, i thought it would be arriving in Tucson sometime early this week. imagine my surprise when the delivery driver called saturday afternoon and asked me if i could take delivery saturday around 8pm. hech yeah!! the driver did almost 1500 miles in 2 days. luckily, the rain stopped and the big rig backed its way into the driveway. i felt like a kid at Christmas. we were out there with the flashlite, trying to get a glimpse of it.
it arrived safe and sound, and started right up. man, i was jazzed!!
hopefully the title will come today so i can get it legally registered. i'm itching to go out for little cruise, so that will hopefully happen today. my neighbors are all "picking numbers" to get in line for a spin around the block. woo-hoo!!
larry stopped by on sunday and gave it a once over. he thought it was in good shape.
take care,
Joe

Hey all
Joe and his wife were nice enough to show me the new addition to their family on Sunday...a black w/silver striped Backdraft! The car is beautiful from top to bottom! I took a photo to show everyone but it looked as if we were having an earthquake when I downloaded it!
I'm thinking it was operator error, so you'll just have to trust me, it's really sweet.
Thanks again Joe.

Joe,
Glad to hear the car arrived safely and is in good shape.
Remember, be careful with it until you get used to it. These cars deserve a LOT of respect.
Many happy, fun, and safe miles to you and yours!!!
Cheers!
