Default Cobra tuning in Arizona.

HELP!! I recently purchased Kirkham #304 and it has a Shelby aluminum 427 stroked to 482 with 4X48IDA Webbers. The car was set up at sea level and is running too rich (1600 feet) here in Scottsdale. I can't find anybody who knows anything about tuning (preferably with a dyno) a car equipped with 4 webbers. Who is the Cobra High Dali Lama here in the Phoenix area. Please give me a call at 602-430-4877 if you can steer me in the right direction. Two shops so far have suggested removing the webbers and putting a single Holly on it so they could tune it!! I am a brand new Cobra owner and appreciate any help you might have regarding this. Thanks.

Chip

Default Weber Tuning

Congrats on the Kirkham purchase! Would love to see the car at the Scottsdale Pavilions some Saturday.

One person I would suggest contacting regarding the tuning of your Webers for the Phoenix altitude is Joe Mischik, cell 480-694-1454. I met Joe at the Pavilions, and he is the owner of very meticulously done Daytona Coupe with a Weber eight stack.

Another resource is Anthem Motors. Their number is 623-879-0930.

Chip,

Phoenix is only at 1200 feet of elevation so the tuning difference is minor. It should run fine hear versus the beach. If the car has sat for any length of time, the gaskets could have dried up in the carb's. They might need to be rebuilt. Also, change the plugs and check the timing, see if that helps. Once you cover the basics, jetting is the last step in the process.

A good dyno operator with an O2 sensor can give you direction as far as jetting goes. Tuning a muti carb set up is easy as long as they are in sync and everything else is correct.

Good luck,

Scott

Phoenix varies from from 960 ft (Salt River/35th ave) to 1600 ft in North Phoenix (Deer Valley area).

Default Thanks

Gentlemen,

Thanks for your input, I will make some calls and get this car running properly. Hiker, you must be a pilot. Your elevations are right on. Phoenix Sky Harbor is 1100 feet and the Scottsdale Airport is 1500 feet. I live near the saddle between Scottsdale and Fountain Hills at over 1600 feet. I look forward to seeing you at the Pavillions.
