Now for the big question; Who went and what were some times? Any video?

Ok, got back from going to the commentment in Prescott, Parade, lights and all. There was many cars at the parade, no cobras. Corvette club was there with about 10 vettes, some old roadsters etc. 1 drag car there making a small amount of tire burn. Otherwise dogs, and half the town in the parade.

What a beautiful day it was for the drag strip. Greg and I were the only Cobras there and itbites showed up with his 'vette. I was not at all happy with my results but Greg's car was screaming! Even with a real soft launch, he was turning 128 MPH and I think his best time was a low 10.90 or high .80. What a monster that Roush small block 427 is! I've got to think that if he'd bullet-proof his rear end so he could launch hard that he'd probably go 1/2 second quicker. Really a nice set up.

As for my runs, many trials and tribulations and flimsy excuses, but the bottom line is that I wasn't getting the power to the ground and I also wasn't making the power I did the first couple times out when I got down to 10.74. Thinking the move from the Edelbrock 800 to the Holley 850 was not such a good idea. I've never gone anywhere as quickly since making the switch. Back to the drawing board. See y'all next Saturday at Hersh and Paula's.

DA 2100 ft.
10.913 @ 128.759 time slip

I'll try and post the video later.

I got my Buckshot Racefab pipes on the night before drag day and went one jet size up on carb primaries/secondaries and with extra 1/2 turn out on all idle mixture screws. Once to the track and making a few passes I found it took going up 3 jet sizes to rid the lean stumble at top of gears. There might be a little more power if I go up one more jet size. Once the stumble was gone I did one of my off idle starts with a good pass at 2:46 PM.

Here's the stuff on my car

Superformance 2040
Roush 427R-095
Olthoff 2" primary headers
Buckshot Racefab side pipes, 3 inch internal
Pro-Systems 1000ish CFM carb
1/2" and 8AN fuel line from tank pick up to carb
Aeromotive fuel filter
Carter mechanical self regulating fuel pump
maid in Taiwan oval Cobra type intake with 2 1/2" inch tall filter
Mickey Thompson ET Street Drag radials, 325/50 15
Detroit Truetrac 3.73 rear end
TKO 600

Greg, congrats on breaking into the 10's. That's impressive with a SB. A lot of BB guys would love to run those numbers.

Sorry I missed it. Ginny was under the weather so I could not make it. Besides, would you really want a 60 second driver out there

Here's the video of my off idle start 10.91 @ 128.75

video

Looking at the run I think I need more rigid engine mounts. It really lifts the pipes on the driver side.

Greg,

After reading this thread:

http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...621#post694621

Do you by any chance remember how the other cars (notably the Z06) fared for ET?

Mighty impressive run there, buddy!

Thanks!

Cheers!
Dave

I posted the video on a couple other threads and made comment about the times for stock Z06s for that particular drag race day with DA of 2100 ft.

They ran 12s and 13s in the mid to high 100 teens mph.

Greg,
Your ETA is great, back calculating HP from ETA about 441 to rear wheels and maybe 2850 pounds for car and driver. What are the size of jets to otain this ETA? Good show, congrats.

Off the top of my head the secondary jets for the last/best pass were 95 and 90 for the primary.

I think the car is about 2550 lbs with me in it and low fuel. I don't launch the car, but start a bit over idle, so time is about .4 slower that potential. Use MPH for HP calculator in this link.

http://www.pro-system.com/calc.html

The pass should come out about 430 to wheels uncorrected. Correct that to sea level and it's around 463. I think it would put down about the same on the load bearing Dynodynamics were I usually go. I'd like to put the car on a Dynojet for some bragging numbers that are a little higher.

If you want to sea level correct here's a link.

http://www.modulardepot.com/density.php

Conditions were

70F

25% humidity

30.0 inHg

1250 ft. elevation

or use

70F

25% humidity

28.7 inHg

0 ft elevation

It comes out about 2200 ft DA, but I called it 2100 DA to be safe.
