Club Sandwich
Yes, another year is here. Club Sandwich in Laughlin, NV is over. Riverside Resort/Casino is a great place to have this event. Never enough awards. Darren from southern California took First place everything, but a few AZCobra people brought home some. Lyle, Dave, Jay, Jim, Way to go!
The weather tried to beat us but couldn't. Rain, wind, water, mud, who cares! Ask Tucson John.
Gambeling is fun if you don't lose. Buffets galore! Especially Harrahs!
Mike broke his hood support during a burnout Friday. Didn't know it damaged other items until Sunday home bound. His alternater and support bracket bit the big one about 45 miles out past Wickenburg in "no service" cell phone zone. He deserves the "Hard Luck Award." I hope Dave Martin brings it to Knotts (April 28-29, 2007).
We had many more members there, Paul, Jim, even Bill&Marilyn.
We also had our Tuesday night group people: Linda/Keith, Ken/Lynn, Don/Diana, Jim/Carolyn.
WAY TOO MUCH FOOD!!!
AZ Bob

Why would Mike be making burnouts with his hood up? Too much time at the bar? No pictures? It wasn't a "stays in Vegas" weekend, was it?

Karl, it was a BIG burnout in the parking lot. During the burnout, Ginny heard and felt something and said "Oh Oh, something broke." She, as usual, was right. Mike said he even hurt his hood and needs a repair.

First I want to say... Had a great time in Laughlin...
I want to thank Bob for the use of his cell phone as my battery was low. However, there was no phone service where we broke. I want to thank John form Tucson for taking Ginny into Wickenburg to call for a tow truck. I want to thank Lyle and Dee for staying with Ginny in Wickenburg until some more help arrived. Lyle, the alt was a great idea but it would not have worked as the bracket also broke. A big thanks to Keith and Linda for coming back to Wickenburg to stay with Ginny until the tow truck went by.
Damage... The alternator is destroyed. The casing broke horizontally. This caused the top of the mounting bracket to shoot upwards hitting the underside of the hood. Major star crack. Need to get another bracket before I can put it together. I'm going to put a large bandaid on the hood until I can get it fixed. Gordon is your paint booth ready yet?. I'm still not sure if an alternator fan blade broke in Laughlin hitting the gas hood strut or if the strut broke hitting the alternator.
The car broke 90 miles from Phoenix in the middle of the desert. About 30 miles south of Wiekieup.
Karl, here is a pic of the car being placed back on the ground at home.

Jim,
Thanks.. Ginny bought one in Wickenburg. They, her and Lyle, were going to come back in case the tow truck did not show. It did. She said to keep the new one. I've learned there are times not to argue.
I'll be there Saturday without the cobra.

Dang, Mike, sorry to hear the bad news. Sure wish I had been in Wickenburg to be able to help, etc. I'm probably coming back this week, though, if the weather holds up ok - looking a little shakey tomorrow and Wed., but maybe Thursday it'll be better. I want to get there in time for Sedona.
Hope you get 'er fixed real soon.
Tom

Well I figured out what happened... The Alt fan went first, taking out the plastic connecting piece of the strut. There were no marks on the strut that should have been there, if it broke and then bounced on the alt.
Jim, do you still have that used strut? All I need is one of the ends.

Mike, you home tonight? I need my phone. I'll stop by and knock on your door. I have your phone number on "my phone" or I would call first.

Thanks Jim.. I'll do that.
Steve, Saturday we will be meeting at McDonalds in Wickenburg for a run to Sedona via Yarnell. Meeting time is, if I remember, 10am.
We may be in Ginny's hot-rod.
