Who in the valley has 5 Cobras?
We're having some work done on the house today and the salesman showed up to do his thing. He saw my Cobra and said "a neighbor of my wife's mother has 5 of them including a couple originals and one that is all chrome including the body".
Sounded like a story to me but I thought I'd post and see if anybody has heard of this before. |
Not sure about that guy but there are 5 Cobras in a hangar at Scottsdale Airport and they are all real. Owned by a well known familly from Pittsburgh PA....
|
There is a collector in that area... I do not know who he is.
Steve.. Tell me more, if you can. Mike |
I'll bet the chances of them being stolen just got better.

 ouch!

Bennette Dorance has two or three. Harley Cluxton has a couple. Craig Jackson has one. Mike Schoen (sp) has/had a few. I would guess he's talking about Mike Schoen, the U-Haul guy.

Well heck, he could buy mine, then he / her would have 6ix....well almost!
|
Mike's (U-haul) are in Co. on display at the Shebly museum. He sold them (CSX2002/2345/3002) off and I hauled them up there for the new owners about 5 or so years ago. Harley sold his shop to the Walmart boys but that is most likely the airpark cars you are talking about.

I Think That The Guy Who Has The Cobra's Is Walton (spelling) From The Walmart Family..he Just Moved To Scottsdale About A Year Or 2 Ago.
|
Mmmm anyone got a key..
|
Walton is from Bentonville Arkansas, not Pittsburgh...
|
I hear that he has a big collection out there and all very high end cars(very rare)I've heard that he has an original coupe out there and this is just hear say..I know that there are supposed to be 5 in museums and one being restored and going to be put in a private museum..My curiosity is getting the best of me so I'm going to check it out....Dave

Mike, Steve, John and any others...
Would any of these owners be willing to show off a car or 2 at Hershals for the anniversary party? Mike |

Dave, the coupes that are in Arizona are both in the Airpark.. One is owned by Walton, the other by Bernie Carl, the attorney. The other 4 are not in AZ. There is a McKluskey Coupe on an original 289 chassis in Vegas with Mr.Shelby. A good re-creation I might add... My friend Phil who has worked on both coupes and a real S/C that is in town (as well as installing all that stuff in my Mustang) informs me that there may be 5 Cobras on Bethany Home but that the person he knows there would have cars in need of "restoration" ie rough... Honestly, most of the real cars will disappear from sight in the not too distant future. They are difficult to insure and most owners do not want people to know what they have or where it is garaged. Theft is a major problem... If you get to Boulder on a Saturday, you need to go to the museum. It is pretty incredible and it gives you a feeling of awe if you were a car nut when you were a kid and saw these things on Wide World of Sports telecasts.. That is really the only place to see the cars close up. I have been to SAAC and Monterey too, but the milestone cars are mostly in Boulder.:o Steve Steve |
It's me.........
..........in my dreams.

5 Cobras
I have seen the chrome cobra twice in the valley. Both times it was in around the Scottsdale Airpark. Seemed a bit strange...all chrome.
|
Ok, Walton Has Been Here Since 2000...to The Absolute Best Of My Knowledge There Are No Coupes In Hangar 1 Lots Of Ferraris And An Original Shelby Roadster I've Been Told ..buttttttt, Noooooo Coupes....dave
