Default Looking for Insurance Companies

Hi Guys......I am looking for an insurance company. I am loosing my current carrier and need to change. I checked out Grubb but they want me to jump through hoops. I heard that State Farm does our cars? Any other ideas before I log on and do a search for collector car insurance?

Thanks guys.

Also, Mid West Classic Insurance. I have sent several people to them and they all got insured under classic car insurance. I pay 250 dollars a year for everything and thats for 5K miles a year. A friend just got them to do his cobra and his classic convertible mustang for 500. Ask for Robbin and tell him James sent you.

Edit : You do not have to have a car registered as a 65 or whatever... he does component cars and has companies that insure them as what they represent.

I used my standard car insurance carrier, Grange. At first my agent said no, but after talking with a freind that sell insurance, he said that they should be able to do it, if not call him back...but he would want all my cars. So, a second call to my agent resulted in describing the car, setting a value, defining the next steps...once I recieved (in the process of buying) the car. The next step was to get the car valued by a professional and send pictures. The result is...no limit on miles, and much cheaper than any internet found policy.

at Mid West, I am not sure, but I think they only do factory built cars...(turn key minus) and were excluding "kits" that were built by the owners. be sure and check that out as a detail.

Try these guys:

http://www.americanhobbyist.com/

no mileage restrictions at all but you need a garage and can't drive the car to work...

Cobra 265, Mustang 122 300/500/500 250 ded , towing, uninsured motorist, all the bells and whistles. I have been with them for 5 years... all is well

And they supply the AZ insurance card for you. You need to check and make sure that everyone else supplies that, some of the smaller companies don't...

I went with Midwest Classic Insurance as well for my coupe. Great people, good policy. Very easy to work with. I cancelled my Grundy policy as these guys were about $400 per year cheaper with better coverage (lower deductibles, etc).

Grundy has $300,000; 1000, uninsured Motorists included; uninsured motorists included. In Arizona that little item is very important since most of the illegals have no insurance. Read your policy about this and mileage.

I also ask "what if this happens". Is it going to take 1 year to get your car fixed or will it just get fixed now.

My American Hobbyist is agreed value. Didn't require a written appraisal for my car, just photos.

I went with State Farm. It's a standard car policy. A little more $$'s but zero limitations. No worries driving to work, to get ice cream, pizza, etc.

Agreed value, no appraisal. Just pics.

NC has cheap insurance but you must live and garage your cobra in NC, being in Illinois I called Mid West Classic Insurance that it was more than my present policy of $269 for 6 months. If you interested, I have - -

State Farm has agreed value and no restrictions; $400 a year. They covered my FFR before I purchased my CSX.

Chris....thanks for your tip. After reading your post I realized that State Farm has my house and my boat. I called them yesterday and today I gave them a check for $94 for six months with full coverage and $100 dedectible and no restrictions. I was very clear that this was a replica and put the value of $50.000 on the car. They took some photo's and gave me the proof of insurance cards and away I drove.

Thanks again to all of you for your recommendations. I did contact most by going on line for a quote. The range was from $200 to $1100 for a year. I was quite surprised to learn that one company offered insurance on any replica under construction. This is one of the most asked questions on ffcobra web site and, I think, this must be one of the only companies that actual do offer insurance for the builder during the actual build process.

Anyway...I know have new plates, registration and insurance. It's nice to have friends in "high places". Cruise on dudes.
