Is it worth getting a car with heat?
Is heat an option that I should be looking into living here in AZ? It still gets pretty cold in the mornings during the winter.
Is it something that is easy to add? I wouldn't think you would need to have vents in the dash, it would probably be fine if you just had a hose under the dash, like ski boats have.

Get the frost off the windshield, and keep those toes warm. It will open up options on where, and when you drive.

I went through the same worries and thought process. Don't bother.
Plus, the heater lines are butt ugly on the motor.

I've used my car for 20 yrs,NO heater, but I do have heated seats,like AZ ,CA is cool at night and in the morning.I have always wanted to hook up some kind of defroster though,I have often been caught with a frosted up windshield (mines Lexan .I think it frosts up worse than glass,but lighter and safer).The heated seat works great .

Do you have a wife or girlfriend? If so, get the heater. She'll be much more receptive to taking the Cobra do dinner or coffee or whatever rather than the daily driver.

Not needed most of the time. Unless you go to the north country during the colder months. But, those of that do just dress warm.

Never mind the guys in other parts of the country.... Frost on the windshield? Right... there isn't enough humidity
If you want heat, wait until mid April and save your money. Criminy it is close to 80 today!
The heater is worthless in a roadster as you have no windows, unlike a convertible. Only those who are extremely confident in their masculinity or have allergies like Fitz would ever put a top up on a Cobra. They are also pretty limber to enter and alight from the bloody thing. I had heat in the SPF and it was useless...

Heat?
In the NorthEast cold usually includes wet, salty roads, and ice. In AZ it is just cold, I would get it if possible to allow a more pleasurable driving season.
I decided to skip the heater for the formentioned reasons in the NE.

It does. The amount is determined by how much you sheild the foot boxes etc.

What is the standard for heat shielding, if there is one? Is this something that is easy to do after the car is purchased, or is it something that should be completed when the car is built?

Heat hasn't been much of a problem in Backdraft's, our engine compartments have stainless steel cladding and it seems to help alot. If you have a cobra with a aluminum with no fiberclass between you and the motor, I can see some issues there with heat.
This is just my opinion.

I forgot to mention, that my brother has one and he didn't want a heater in his. He lives in Ct. It is just a matter of wants over needs. Seat heaters is another good idea.

Heater in Cobra, divert the heat from sidepipes to cockpit. 
Anyhow, heater is nice in mornings in AZ in DEC and Jan. |

Anyone have a quick link to a "seat heater" thread that was posted here probably a year ago? I've grown accustomed to using the ones in my daily driver, and having these in the Cobra would really be great on cold mornings and cooler evenings. The factory SPF heater (at least the 700 series) is not much to write home to Mom about. Engine heat is nominal, though for some reason I tend to notice it more on the really warm days.

I was thinking about seat heaters too. I figured as long as I was going to do that I would add a memory seat button too.
