Default Classic Carriage Auction

I went down to the U of PHX Stadium this morning 10am ish. $30 entry, WOW! There were a lot of nice cars going up for auction. I would compare it to a downsized B-J or RS Auction. Anthem Motors was well represented with about 8 or 10 cars there. There were many cars there I recognized. Bill's 64 cobra, Art's GT40, Dwayne's 69 Tran AM, Ernie's 70 Pro Street Malibu. Lots of great cars. I recognized several B-J bidders from TV.
Clint, from Anthem was perched right across from the Dodge Girls. Tough job. He was next to a display of Ultimas and a bigger one that looked the same. I didn't check out the family events or the memorabilia auctions stuff. Who cares. I hope the car shows are a success Sat and Sun.
Good luck and Good $$$ to all of our clan selling their babies.

AZ Bob

Not sure where everyone was all weekend. The big car show/concert at Firebird Lake for some Kids organization that had Travis Tritt(sp), The Guess Who and Blood Sweet and Tears was suppose to bring in 20K people only had 2K show up. The Pavillions was 60% full. The stupid band didn't even start til 7:30. I passed on Firebird cause they wanted $50 to get into the car show...get real.

The best thing all weekend was the auto parts swap meet at GCC. It was the biggest i've seen in 20 years. Had to be over a 1000 venders.

Yes, a nice auction and not enough people or bidders/buyers. I counted 345 cars that went over the block, Thursday through Saturday, with 80 sales. On Sunday, another 14 were sold as the reruns went through, for an extra $100. fee. I didn't bother taking my Cobra over the block again. It was fun meeting people and some friends who were able to make it there. Sure were alot of other car events going on that weekend, too.

In case you were wondering where everyone was, you might have noticed it was St.Patrick's Day on Saturday... As we have the highest rate of DUI in the country and it being spring break and all, I decided to stay home and not drive on Saturday evening because of the high possibility of being killed by some drunken idiot... I'll bet a lot of people feel the same way...

Hello.....I drove right by the auction to attend a spring training game in Surprise. The game was a sell out. Wonder if anyone gave the Catus league any thought before planning the auction?

the Detroit News ran a story on this auction , written by a Phoenix writer . The 'photo' section with pics also shows 20+ cars and prices bid . It appeared it was indeed lightly attended with a low sales rate , see :

'Bidding reached $140,000 for this 2005 Ford GT, but the owner wanted at least $200,000.' I don't blame the guy for wanting 50K more than I can buy one for. I see why BJ has a no reserve.
