Heber Report
I got back to East Bumscrew Mesa this morning just before 9 and the ride from Heber had been very comfortable. It was 90° in Payson at 8 o'clock and 97° at home. Don't know how cool it had been in Heber but felt like probably mid-60°s.
Ten Cobras, Bruce's beautiful '07 Shelby Mustang, a couple 'vettes and a "classic" Blazer did the parade.
Jim and Susan hosted the Friday night party and the Saturday morning breakfast, at Casa del Pink, and as always were most hospitable hosts. Most of us drove to Showlow for Saturday's lunch and then the Pinkster and I took the long way back by going through Snowflake. The lunch was better last year but the drive back to Heber was far better this time as I managed to keep the car on the pavement, the whole way.
Saturday night's fireworks were spectacular and I always wonder how such a small community can afford such extensive displays. The number of spectators for the parade continues to grow and the line of Cobras received many rounds of applause, mixed in with the requests for burnouts. We all, regretably, behaved ourselves, at least during the parade, so there was no repeat of the tragedy that happened a few weeks ago in KY or TN.
It appeared that a real good time was enjoyed by all and I, for one, made motel reservations again for next year. Youse guys with the excuses, just need to get the Right Mental Attitude, use lots of sunblock, and go up the mountain next year.

Thanks Mike, glad you made it home safely. I was two DPS doing a thriving business on my way home. Hope none of our group becomes a revenue source for them.

I left ahead of you guys and got home about 8:45. No revenue for the state from me. I have to say that for a first encounter, this is a warm friendly group of folks. The Parade was fun. Great crowd. I got a few good pictures I will post later. My thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Pink. They put on a great event.

A Few Photos
I didn't get many from the parade but I got most of these at Mr. Pinks.
You can start with this photo and scroll through the rest of them. I'll figure this board out shortly..

My friends had set us all up for another engagement that I didn't know about until later in the evening. I really hated missing the party. Hope everyone had fun.

What fun! Thanks to the Pinks and also to Dan and Chuck for the company on the ride up. Nice meeting you guys.
Pam and I had a great time and didn't want to come home. Left Show Low at 6:30...65º. Hit Fountain Hills at 9:45....104º (got there 2 degrees before Mike and Ginny )

Thanks Guy's
I did not get to talk to all of you but you did put on a good show for the people of Heber. I did talk to a lot of the locals and they had nothing bad to say. I live up here full time. See all of you next year up here.

Great Trip. Nice people. You always feel welcome at LaCasa Pink. Boy am I carbohydrated out! Pizza, Beer, chips, popcorn, cookies, cupcakes, brownies, hamburger, frys pastries, donuts. etc. My Oh My! There goes my Atkins diet, but what a way to go! Great weather. New owners of the Sawmill Inn seemed to actually want us there!
When I got home and changed clothes all sorts of wadded up spitballs fell out.
Pats place might make good pizza but no more hamburgers from there - UGH!
Drive home beautiful!
All in all a fun weekend. The best part is when we can sit around and poke fun at each other.
AZ Bob

Well that's not good for our reputations!
Next year we need more more 'Wild One' attitude.

After hearing that Salt River Navy Southern Baptist band I think they'll be damn happy to hear ANYTHING ELSE!
