Us 191
Has anybody run US 191 from Safford to Eagar? I'm trying to plan a run in early September. Looks like it might be an overnighter or at the least a very long day.

Mike, Eagar to Hannagan Meadows is great. 7K to 8K feet. Probably a shower in Sept. South from that is about 2 hours of tight switchbacks. The first 5 minutes is kinda fun then it gets old. Steering stop to stop and 20 MPH. You end up in Clifton/Morenci. Hot, crappy and 4 hours from home.
It rained from noon to 8 pm Saturday up north.

BTW, that road used to be 666, The Devils Highway. Everybody stole the signs, so they changed the number.

I remember when it was 666. Thought that was a great name.

First time posting. Have read a lot of posts and am keeping a list of all I need and want on my Cobra. Maybe in two years. Anyway, the run on 191 is a fantastic ride on a motorcycle and one I would definitely take in a cobra. My favorite way to go is Guthrie North to the 180 at Alpine and then South thru New Mexico to the 78 and back to Guthrie. It is a long ride but well worth it. My motorcycle buddies and I have done this both in one day and two days. Two days was more fun because we didn't get home at 11pm. Any, great trip and a great site.

South from that is about 2 hours of tight switchbacks
I think it would be fun, we can do a pool on how long Shulac stays on the road!
Sorry Dave, couldn't resist!

Mikiec, this is the route that I have wanted the Cobras to drive for the last five years. I will do anything to help you get this event going. John.

Mike, Would it be a nicer drive if we started by going south through the desert in the morning and then up the hill and across the top in the afternoon? Might be cooler.

Dan...
Have not picked the way to go... Need to get with the Tucson gang first. We will need to meet up with them and then do the run together.

Its been years since I have done this run and it was in a, dare I say, Firebird! Anyway I headed south from Mesa to Safford and then north on AZ 666 and returned back via a more direct route via Showlow. This was all in a single very long day. I would recommend making it a 2 day trip and stopping in just about any of the towns up that way.
