AZ club track event.

This is what I have found is available.

Firebird main on Nov 10th or Dec 22
Cost is;
track $2900
Fire/saftey $550
Management $350- that's firbird, not me.

West Track- Costs are the same but the rental is $2400 for the day. We will also need to purchase insurance for the event or I can talk to NASA about it which will be around $500 for the day.

Let me know what you think.

ProAutoSports has a track day on the West Track on Oct 6 with Driver Ed, etc for about $195. Includes 1 year membership. One day 8am to 6pm. With class, book and instruction on track.

Just a suggestion

Thanks Gordon,
East track West track
$4300 % 10 = $430 or $3800 % 10 = $380 delta is 50 bucks at 10
4300 % 15 = 287
$4300 % 20 = $215 $3800 % 20 = $190

Gordon, You said in an earlier post "(The west track really isn't a fun track to drive. It's more of an autocross coarse. The east track is pretty technical but very fluid. There really isn't much to hit.)"

I am a rookie on track events and that is maybe over rating my own abilities but also wanted to introduce my daughter to tracking. The statement There really isn't much to hit has me concerned. I would not suggest for a second I wanted to hold the group back and if the majority wants the more technical track then so be it. Is there a rough head count yet?
The deal Bob posted is another possible and less money for beginners like me and my daughter. Thanks for the research and info. jeff c

I would much rather do east track but it is booked solid until mid jan. for some x-mas thing.
Second on my list would be main tack but there are area's of concern that you can have a mishap if you make a big mistake.
West track for a beginner is good, kind of like a really big autocross coarse.
The point of this was to run our own group and not have to deal with others. Feel free to run with PASA, I won't.

mikiec 09-05-2007 11:33 AM

I agree with Gordon. The primary focus for this idea was to be able to run as a group without having others on the track.

Sure PASA and the others can be cheaper but, I'de rather run as a group.

Jeff, you will have to get past the track with walls issue. Walls or not there are always risks. What is important is to teach her to use her head. If she's scaring herself, she needs to slow down.
I would be happy to work with you and her to help her improve if you like.

We can certainly find enough people to keep the cost at a reasonable number methinks. I prefer the centre (main) track personally, but I can go with the flow. My Cobra was only good for 4 laps on the other tracks due to low speeds and high oil temperatures because of airflow speeds...
I can help teach as well, particularily the ground shool part. Only those that drive over their heads whack walls, we can slow the novice groups with cones or pace cars...

Fitz 09-05-2007 06:45 PM

Count me in. Need to get 3M or something for my car as Gordon is painting front half to rid the noise of "chips". Now I am asking for more......

Fitz 09-05-2007 06:48 PM

Remember if we got the main track we don't have to go fast!

greg schroeder 09-05-2007 07:29 PM

If there aren't enought people the SECC is always open at PIR.

vettestr 09-05-2007 09:19 PM

Gordon,
The worry of things to hit was a thought you planted from your earlier post, I took off and ran with it from there. My daughter has a pretty good head on her shoulders but also has limited seat time in the car now. I just need to get her used to the car and then sneak up on the place where it gets slippery.
Steve offered to teach her some basics a while ago, just still so darn hot so we have not done much. Kayce is pumped with the idea and she wants to learn.
I tried to put her in a dragster and go drag racing but she spent a lot of time at the track when I was racing but not her thing. She just never got into drag racing

Gordon Levy 09-06-2007 06:35 AM

She'll do fine. we just need to help and keep an eye on her.

vettestr 09-06-2007 10:25 AM

Thanks Gordon,
I do have a bunch of faith in her and she always makes me proud of her. The idea she wants to spend more time with Dad works for me.

mikiec 09-06-2007 04:03 PM

Jeff... You dun good with her.

But, to keep her wrapped up in duck tape to avoid boys is going a little far. :) :)

Mike?? Is that gal instructor you liked so much at Firebird going to be at this event teaching???? Dave

Gordon Levy 09-06-2007 05:31 PM

Not if I have anything to say about it.

mikiec 09-06-2007 08:40 PM

No way in heck....

I will try to make either day (Nov 10th or Dec 22nd) but, I am scheduled to work both. Cannot always get off when you want but, I will try.

**) **) Gordon have you tried to see what kind of deal PAS will give us? I do not think we will get enough people to show to rent the entire track for under $400.00 per person.....

Both dates are good with me so let's rock and roll.....**) **)

need4speed 09-07-2007 12:02 AM

If you don't mind a Lister tagging along I am willing to do both dates if we can get the price per day down to $200 or under. I may be able to convince another Lister owner to attend as well.
