Well I am jumping into the fire.
It could be annoying depending who and how is the question asked. I am one for telling the truth and my mostly used answer is " it is not a $500,000.00 Cobra, but it is manufcatured by WCC " it has a lot of Cobra components and a very nasty 427 Ford side oiler engine that leashes out 550hp at the rear wheels. Very fast, very hot, very noisy, and sexy curves, you will smell like gas at the end of a run your liver will be stucked to your spine and you will have less wrinkles on your face due to the G-Forces.

All this said with a smile. Some smile with you, others are just puzzled as to why would someone drive something so mean...my answer pure masochism!

Women in particular don't care too much about it being real, 99% of the time they say "its a dammed sexy car". Kids love the sound and could care less if it is real or not.

I must brag about this; if I had a buck for all the pictures and videos taken of my car in the 3 months I could pay for all the gas for the 3 months. Not only at shows but while on the road.

I am having the time of my life with it and that's what's important. If it was a real one it would be in my living room under glass cover, not fun.... Since it is not real but an replica, they say that imitation is the most sincere way of flattery. I am thankful to Carrol Shelby for his contribution to my happyness.

You do realize that this is a 5-year old thread? And not even an interesting one at that.

For the uninformed, I simply tell them them that this is a hybrid Cobra. Burns gas and rubber...
They just laugh and go to the next car and show off there automotive acumen.

I think the only time I get miffed anymore is when somebody knocks on the body. That level of disrespect still raises my blood pressure.

I have a 12 yr old and a 14 yr old boys, showed them how to hold your hands behind your back and lean forward to look at a vehicle, don't tap on it you dont even lay your hand on it, told them "see that beautiful shine on it? they worked hard to get that look on it, you don't ruin it by touching it" always get respectful nods from car owners at shows when my two boys walk around their car with their little hands clasped behind their backs.

Very good.
I was at a classic car show, and there was a brand new Ferrari. And guy was leaning over it, trying to look at the engine. He had a steel belt buckle. I cringed and showed him back. The owner thanked me. But it was to late to stop him scratching it.

Think of any CSX car as a Camaro or GTO, they were made in the past ,discontinued, and brought back again, so in actuallity, any CSX is a REAL cobra, you would not call the new Camaro or GTO a kit car or continuation car, you would call it what it is, a Camaro or GTO, maybe a bit of topic, but you get the point.

If you had to buy the new camaro or gto and install the engine yourself then I would agree with you. As it is, the douche-bag in D111's story had just as much a "kit" car as D111 and is a douche for his condescending attitude. It may be "real" but it's still a "kit" car no matter how much lipstick you slather on the pig. Just like mine, like D111"s and like yours. In short, no room for slinging stones.

Is it real? Yes really good.
Is it a kit car. Every car is put together like a kit.
It's like going to a woman and asking if her breasts are real. When I finish mine, I hope I don't get asked a thousand times.

I own a Kirkham. Out of respect for the real CSX cars, I always say its not a real Cobra. Yet it's bare aluminum. The usual questions persist. Is it stainless steel....no, its not a Delorean!! Etc, etc. I think I'll try responding yes, it's real and see what happens. Will they simply walk off, or more questions. I should be happy people are interested in my car, but seems like a broken record...

Do you get abused if your having a bad day, and don't feel like smiling back. Or do you go out and look like a total loser, so people don't even want to bother you.

Here we go again.

If it wasn't built in the 60's it is not an original cobra.

If it was delivered as a roller, or a box of parts, and then you built it or only put in the drivetrain, it is a kit car.

No matter how much you want to make it a "real" cobra. It isn't!

When people ask if it is a "real" cobra, they generally mean was it built in the 60's.

There are only two types of Cobras, real (built in the 60's) and kit cars (all the rest).
