A: No. You're asleep and having the best dream of your life.. Of course it's real. Touch it!

Thnaks Joey,
The engine is from Southern Automotive (427 SO), standard Shelby headers/sidepeipes....some of the guys think it is too loud but, it is just the way I like it.

It depends on the person. I had a snooty vet guy ask if it was real and I responded with "your looking at it arent you" His face was priceless.
If I get "is it a Kit?" The answer is no it's a factory car.
If someone is smart enough to use the word replica I say "yes it's a replica, I have neither the money or the balls to drive around a half million dollar car"
I did meet a guy the other day who had an original. I asked where it was and he said "in the bottom of sanfransico bay where I ran it off the road". He then proceeded to tell me that his mother during her last days yelled at him for it. He asked her why she did not yell at him when he was 17 and wrecked it? She said beacuse then it was just a noisy car and that if she knew how much it would have been worth she would have yelled at him then.

Some times the answer is "no it's not an original it's better, because I get to drive it and not worry about it being worth a fortune".
But I hear the response a lot when people realize it's a replica they say "I know a guy who has/had an original". What can you say to that? I just get tired of hearing it but I know I'm living my dream so who gives a s---.
I went with my 11 year old daughter yesterday to a local car show as spectators. After that we went for a burger and a cruise down to the coast along the beach and back towards home through Kanan canyon. A long hilly windy road with 3 tunnels to pass through. Inside the tunnels I push in the clutch and rev it up a few times to about 5500 rpms. Sounds pretty real to me. She said as we were getting close to home what a great time she had...made my day.
Cheers,
John

I LOVE driving Kanan-Dume from Agoura Hills out to Malibu... used to drive it all the time in my Mustang GT 'vert, tho have yet to make the run in my Backdraft. Have thought of the same thing... how the pipes will sound going through the tunnels. I keep thinking... AVALANCHE!!!!
Will hopefully make that drive soon. Also want to add Mulholland to the list, but not doing it til I get my brakes ship-shape (insufficient vacuum).

MaSnaka,
It doesn't get any more REAL than the remark from your daughter. That pretty much says it all in the REAL world.......

While my car is not a Cobra, but a 66 GT-350 look-a-like/clone/re-creation, whatever, I get the same question often....One guy that seemed to know more about Mustangs than the average guy asked me that same question with a lot of respect and enthusiasum.....
Answer; I don't know, look it over and you tell me....
He looked it over for a few minutes and his reply was: I'm not sure,it could very well be an original.....
I said thanks very much, I must have done a good job on the car and then told him the truth...he was impressed with the car....
But the best times in the car were/are with my daughter...When I got the car on the road she was about 8 or 9 years old... I would always go get her at school on friday afternoon so she didn't have to have a 45 minute bus ride home, since the first grade. On friday morning when leaving for school, she would always ask if I would pick her up and I always told her I would and did, she would then say, "make sure it's in the Mustang" and I would.... She loved it....
Since 1996 we have only missed 3 forth of July Parades together in the car, and she's now 21 years old and still occasionally will cruise with me in the car.......
I guess one day when I don't drive it enough, I'll give it to her as she loves that car as much as I do...........
David

The correct answer for anything not in the CSX2 or CSX3 era is that it is a fake. Live with it. These cars are no more real Cobras than a $100 Rolex is a real Rolex. Enjoy your car, who cares?

Imagine2frolic and David G., thanks for your comments. My #1 priorities are my kids and wife.
Mulv, I get it. But this website is full of real people with real fake Cobras having a real great time. Not original but real none the less. The real CSX'ers out there I salute.
JDog your car looks awsome, very nice. How much? Just kidding...lol.
Slick61, PM me some time and perhaps we can hook up for a cruise.

Hi Guys
MULV....sometimes your sarcastic sense of humor comes off a bit harsh in the written format....
You are always have been a sweet talking Canadian.....and a really good guy, who used to own ---- What you called a "Tupperware" SPF with a 427. Hell yes all of these cars WITHOUT the CSX 2/3 vin # are redo's but they are still great fun, have passionate owners and are the light in the eye of the humble many that own them as opposed to the elite few that have the original cars.
The young kid in the video was in a real Cobra......all you needed to do was see the light in his eyes, that I have seen reflected in th eyes of most of the BACC guys year in and year out very Saturday.
Warm Regards,
TR

When asked I just tell them it is a replicar - best of both worlds. It has
a resemblance to the original but costs a lot less as does the insurance, is
easier to maintain with old and new technology, and is a blast to drive.
I have yet to have anyone disagree with that. Most know that the originals
cost a whole lot more nowadays and are rare. Amazing how many "have
a friend/relative/whatever that owned one". I sure never did.
