Default The East Side Gang

Will we be gathering on the east side to travel as a group to the Cobra Bash on 12/1? If so, where and when?

Could we may arrange to join up with the Tucson folks and travel as a BIG group? There was something inspiring about seeing 23 Cobras all ready to head out together the other night.

A couple times we've met south of the 60, on Greenfield. There's a Walmart on the west side of the street and a QT gas station on the east. We can also go farther west if the Tucson group is coming up 10, or this would work well if they come up through Florence.

Tucson John, any plans?

If Karl counts you in and I count you in, do you get counted twice? That's double dipping and we all know that's wrong! .. Consider yourself counted..

So is someone going to make a decision? Anyone hear from John?

I just spoke with Aida on the phone. She and John have been away for a couple of weeks but they will be going on Saturday. Aida and John are going to talk and John will comment in this thread when they've made a decision. We can wait until we hear from them before we make a decision.

Hi Dan, I have just checked our Tucson weather forecast as well as the Phoenix one, and, we will be there to meet you guys. Maybe not in our Cobras though. OK, we will be coming up I-10 to I-202 to I-101 and then northbound. Our departure time is locked in at 8:30 am from I-10 just north of Tucson at mile post 246. My guess at the time, under dry road conditions, would have us at the I-101 and Hiway 60 interchange about 9:45 am. That would be plus or minus 6 minutes. How does that time fit with your plans ? If it is OK, where along I-101 can we meet ? The Pavallions ? As a side note, I will bring three dozen donuts for the pre-party party, where can I buy them along the route ? Is there a place that we can meet at that has a donut shop, even a Frys, Safeway, etc. will do. Thanks for inviting us. John

John,

Glad you are still planning on being there. Bring rain gear and chairs.

Looks like I may be the only crazy driving my cobra in the rain.

Great to hear that you'll be driving. Now, about the directions, will Ginny be leading you ?

No place with donuts I can think of, but I'll make you a deal. I'll pick up the donuts for you and you can pay me back. Just tell my how many you want and what kind. Does that sound OK? We'll meet you at the Indian School off ramp on the east side of the 101 between 9:50 and 10:05 if that works. Let me know. If the sun isn't shining, look for a blue 2005 Dodge truck with the other guys in tow. Otherwise beware of snakes.

Ginny painted a series of white arrows on the road for me.

Dan, that works for us. Please bring the donuts, that way they will be fresh and not wet. Please buy the biggest and fatest ones that you can find. Lots of chocolate and cream inside, some of the french twists, and one with sprinkles on top for the kid in all of us. Is there a parking area at the Indian School and I-10 off ramp ? John

I'll pick the best I can find. There is no parking lot on Indian School, but you can get off and turn right and the road ends.. I think.. if not, we'll pull over beside the road and wait for you.

How many donuts do you want?

OK.. for the gang on the east side, how about we meet at the Standard Station at Recker and McDowell or at Brown and Ellsworth? Recker and McDowell would be about 9:30 with a 9:35 departure and Brown and Ellsworth would be about 10 minutes earlier. Which is it?

Why don't we meet at the Recker and McDowell. That way the people closer to central Mesa don't have to go East, and then back track. Dave, do you and Judy just want to come to my house and we can leave from here about 9:10-ish?
