Default Dark Dining

For those of you who know Linda, this is a news shot done in San Diego just before Thanksgiving. She guides the reporter and the photog through a "dark" experience. When the site opens, click on the flag "video high". I would appreciate any comments on the presentation and any interest from anyone in the club, in experiencing "dark dining".

Pretty cool. I saw something similar on channel 8 a while back.
Figure I'd just poke myself in the eye with my fork!

I think Gordon Ramsey took a couple of his chef's here on Hell's Kitchen.... certainly I think the opportunity would have you gain a deeper appreciation of the senses you take for granted as well as taste food differently. For instance... if you were blind-folded... and had were given a slice of raw potatoe ... you really would not be able to tell it was a raw potatoe slice.

Aside from the food and experience...I think you'd have to be very trusting and open to fully enjoy the experience.

Dan,
Pretty wild stuff. I also saw that restaurant on Hells Kitchen. I would be interested in a dining experience like that. I assume you have given it a try? What was your experience like?
Regards,
Justin

Justin, the experience is quite unique. It's amazing the way certain senses just take over when you are deprived of site. Your hearing becomes more acute. Your memory becomes sharper. You seem to automatically begin to orient yourself by touch...which is really handy for remembering exactly where your wine glass is. Oh, and you develope a craving for chickencicles.. My brother and sister inlaw went with me when I went to Dark Dining. My brother ordered the chicken breast with basil and dill... He had such a hard time cutting the chicken that, in his word, he stabbed it with his fork and made a "chickencicle" out of it.. That is to say he ate it directly off of the fork.

I really enjoyed the experience. I think it's well worth the investment in time and money. Not to mention that food is spectacular.
