Thumbs down New Arizona Plates

Has anybody received any AZ plates lately? I just got my new ones and the letters/numbers are not raised anymore. They just look painted on. Looks like somebody made it in their garage. Maybe it's a replica plate.

What's up with that? Is Sheriff Joe goin' soft on us?

Yup....

That's the way all new plates are now being done. Supposed to save money.

Arrow 3m!

I have spent most of the last 20+ years making license plates at Folsom Prison in California.

No, it's not what you think, I was the Prison Industry's license plate Factory Superintendent, for 16+ years.

I few years ago 3M inc. demo'ed a new system that would print out plates without embossing, like the new AZ plates. Their system would put a unit in each DMV field office & they could print out your plate while you wait!

Somehow I think AZ DMV got 'sold' a new system!

P.S. In Cali we still make plates the old fashioned way, with convicts!

I figured we were just over-working our prison population and they needed a break!

The (old style) plate on my wife's van lost the reflective coating (probably approved by the EPA) and is pretty much impossible to read at night.

Maybe I can switch it to the Cobra....

I hate the look of the new plates, but that is all you can get.

New one is V3N0MUS. Using the az diamondbacks plate with the snake behind it. It looked pretty cool on line.
