Remember to stop at the ATM station like last year. Self Pay in the
machines. Bring $6 and/or Visa card. You never know what is working.
Also I checked and The Carefree/Cave Creek Fiesta Days Parade is that Sunday
again. Cave Creek Rd will be closed at 9am. So from Scottsdale Rd. go east on Stagecoach pass Rd to Pima Rd, then north to Cave Creek Rd. You guys coming from east just take Pima road north to Cave Creek Road.
I can collect cars at the gas station and take them through Carefree.

BobB, I'm thinking that we had to stop at the ranger station last year to buy our park passes and that the vending machines had been shut down. Did the funny mushrooms get to me again or am I correct?

mikiec 03-31-2008 10:21 AM

Here's the skinny....

I just spoke with the Ranger station.

The ATM style machines are gone and will not return. You must stop at the Ranger station.

AH HA! Glad to hear it all wasn't just a dream. Sometimes you never know when my sins of youth (and middle age) will strike again.

Ranger Station is about a block in on the left side on NF 205 Bartlett Lake Road off of the Cave Creek Road. Then about 12+ miles go left on North Lake Rd. First right is Rattlesnake Cove. See you all Saturday.

Is this just a Tonto Forest Pass that we need? If so, we can get those right here in Mesa.

Maricopa 04-01-2008 09:08 AM

and middle age

middle age? ;)

See ya'll there.

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 04-01-2008 12:56 PM

Yes Dan, you can buy a Tonto Day Pass ($6) at many sporting goods stores. It is good for Bartlett Lake Day Pass. I bought mine at the Sportsman's Warehouse. You will scratch off the day, date, time on the pass and put it in your window on arrival. Pass is good for 24 hours. Or you can stop at the Ranger Station on the way and get in line.

Thanks Bob, but I hate lines.. I found out that there is a Mesa Ranger District office about 1 mile from work. I'll stop and buy a pass there. Might even get a Golden Eagle pass since I'm 62.. Wheeeeeeeeeeee finally something cheaper because I'm old.

Dan, here is a link to find out where in your city you can buy a day pass:

Mike

Mike, you mean you will stop by Big 5 and buy one? Open until 8pm. I bought this one for me.

Bob

mikiec 04-02-2008 09:25 PM

Mike

Maricopa 04-03-2008 12:26 AM

Got one today at the Circle K on Union Hills and CC. The one on Bell and 32 is listed but doesn't sell them.

greg schroeder 04-03-2008 01:25 PM

Is there a start location for a drive out?

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 04-03-2008 01:29 PM

For all you newbies. Mike and Ginny normally bring enough plates, cooking utensils, napkins and condiments (I hope I spelled that right) for everyone. Just bring your meat, buns, eating utensils, drinks and snacks. There is always too much.

Thanks Mike & Ginny
