Default The Great Arizona Cobra Rebuild

Well, after reading about the loss of three Cobras in one day, I'm thinkin' that maybe we at ClubCobra could help out our three newly Cobra-less members.

Back in the day, I performed a science experiment to see if there were enough spare parts floating around to build an FFR Cobra (there were, and the Briquette was born).

So ... I know there's going to be insurance paid (certainly by the Toyota owner) ... but - as we all know - insurance may not cover all the costs associated with repairs or replacement.

I'll start by throwing my hat in the ring. I've got a set of AC pedals to donate to the Arizona guys to help get their feet back on the ... err ... pedals.

Your pal,
Meat.

I have a driver's side 4 into 4 header for a 302 that I'll donate.

Good idea Meat,

I have some quick jacks that I can donate a set of stainless steel polished and a set of steel ones. They are for a CRII 3 1/2" spacing with .531 dia holes but they can be modified as needed.

We can also think about a cash donation fund raiser for the people that do not have any parts laying around.

Does the Arizona CC guys have a paypal account that we can send money to? If not I will be happy to have donations sent to my paypal account and then send it to the Arizona CC guys.

Let me know which way you all would like to handle this.

Terry

Great idea just keep in mind that none of the cars were FFRs and none of the guys were the original builders. Pretty sure all of them will be replacing their cars but probably not building them and probably not FFRs.

Maricopa,

You will notice that neither Meat's nor my Cobra'a are FFR's. This type of situation crosses the boundries of Cobra types. At least that is what I believe anyway. I think that it was a nice gesture by Meat to start this (as you said).

You Arizona CC guys just let us know what we can do to help.

Terry

Can any of you tell me where I can get a Contemporary Cobra or a Contemporary body to replace CCX 3208?.. That would help me a bunch.. I got a couple of suggestions this morning, but one of the places is no longer in business in Palm Desert and I haven't had a chance to check on the second one yet.
Thanks

Doesn't Factory Five own the molds for Contemporary's? Thought I read that somewhere.

Yeah I know Terry, I just wanted to make sure people knew it wasn't brand specific.

Dan, after you get done hosing that lady's insurance for 'mental suffering' I'd say Kirkham or 'REAL' one will be in your price range. ;D

FFR had a few bodies and the molds but never offered doors, hood, trunks or interior tub. I'm not sure they even offer the bodies anymore but it's worth a check.

This is a few years old but as Maricopa points out, it's worth checking into.

We've been watching this carefully for updates and information. Glad to hear that all of you will make out OK from what could have been the worst scenario. It is also very heartwarming to read about the support you all share for each other (both immediately on the scene and down the road).

While Vintage Motorsports is rather far away geographically, we are close in spirit and interest. If we can help any of you in getting back in the saddle don't hesitate to ask. Whether it be a replacement part, engine, transmission, etc. or even a whole new Backdraft at or as close as we can get to cost, we are willing to do what we can. Just ask. I know from experience that the insurance game is tricky on the replacement with agreed value etc. So perhaps we can help there.

Best wishes to all involved. It will take a little time but everything that was lost can and will be replaced.

WOW! Now THAT'S a helping hand!

Maybe - depending on how the three owners feel about it, and depending on how the insurance shakes loose - we could all chip in (time, effort, spare parts, etc) for what's not covered by the insurance and do a One-Day Triple Build on three Backdrafts!

Your pal,
Meat.

Dan...as you know I'm pretty close to your location. I'll help you with any re-build labor or tools you might need. I have pretty much any tool you'll need if you have any major work to be done on any new project of your choice. Glad you are OK and Linda was not with us on this trip. wow, I was looking at your car the instant the van rear ended your Cobra.

Anyone fix or replace a wrecked cobra through their or guilty parties insurance company?. Were you satisfied with the outcome?.
I've wondered about this because of disagreements I've heard from folks when they were negotiating replacement value or repairs.
