This is a great site and you will enjoy the mostly good-natured ribbing that people give each other. You'll also love the monthly "real" versus "not real" and the "big block" versus "small block" debates

Okay, I am new but I am going to jump right in. Some of you guys have WAAAAAYYY too much time on your hands. I left at 5 this morning and just got home at 9 from work. Jeff, I don't think my 511 cu in will be too short in the power department and will most definitely won't be waiting around for the chevy's to catch up. While I love a classic Camaro or Corvette BIG block, there is only 1 real true BLUE engine (as in ford blue)

And just in case 600 hp isn't enough, crazy John at Anthem motors has almost talked me into putting 2 superchargers onto the fuel injection for around 1000 hp. I am probably just crazy ( or stupid) enough to do because it has never been done on a fuel injected big block.

Evening Ron,

I just fired up CC too catch up with the day.myself. The twin screws sounds a little like the Cosby thing, I still laugh just thinking about him telling his 200 MPH story and like only the COS could tell it.

I ordered a set of COMETIC head gaskets today so I could drop the C/R on my 540 Dart CHEBBIE The old C/R was killing me and alky is just not fun for the street. Roush is a dam nice engine, no doubt about it. Some of those other engines will surprise a few folks too. We need to get John to put his dyno to work.

Hopefully if I do it it won't have the same result as Bill Cosby's being wrapped round a tree. I guess I have always been a little weird (it sounds like I will fit right in with this group!) and like doing this just becuse no one else will do them or just because it is different. The C/R was important to me as well as my Mustang ( god rest its soul) had a 12:1 race motor taht would only run on racing fuelat 110 octane and $7.00/Gal (and that was last years prices) This new roush has a much lower and more streetable cam in it from what they tell me.

I say God rest it's soul as the 450 hp Mustang I had was sold to a gentleman in Tucson who was giving it to his teenage son as his first car! I am sure it has already been wrapped around something by now.

Bill Cosby didn't wrap a Cobra around a tree.

Most cars never have the HP or Torque they think they have. Always tell people the low side and be surprised when you find out the real numbers. The day I see a cobra with 600-700 Hp after a loaded dyno run or Chaaacee Dyno I will buy them .....a coffee. Sure makes "good standing around the car talk". That is just a ton of HP and Torque; after you add the key, steering wheel, belts, body, air filter, and few other items, you find out the real numbers. Now if you put on twin turbos or huge blower....well all bets are off......

I think a later owner drove it off a cliff when the throttle got stuck.

"Wrapped around a tree..." I considered it like a metaphor, stuck throttle, over the cliff and into the ocean, wrapped around a tree, what ever, same end result.

Hey Vettestr,
Pistons went in last night, lower end complete. I need to re-check the torques and then the heads and top valvetrain are in tonight. Engine in the car tomorrow and start on Sunday! Leaves me two weeks to break it in... I am running Total seal Gapless top rings this time can't wait to see the HP improvement (plus a couple of other items....)

I must say that the AZ Cobra gang will let anybody in, no mater what is in thier car, or for that matter even what car. This is not the problem, the problem is leaving..... No one leaves...... we should be called Hells Cobras....

WELCOME!

Default Welcome to the club

csx4910 Welcome to the club. We look forward to some good old fun on this forum. We have every kind of personality you could want to meet. I am one of the guys with 28+ years of mechanicing and 30+ years of turning wrenches. I have rubbed a couple of the super people the wrong way on this forum. I think it's great you have acobra and look forward to your road trip stories. The nice think about this forum is there is nothing that the CC guys can't help you fix if you have a problem and we are located all over the USA. If you break down, someone is just around the country block to help out. Welcome again looking forward to your dyno sheets for your motor. Rick Lake Ps I live outside the box an worry about safety after seeing cobra people, hurt at races and road trips. Some people just don't get it. Later
