It's a lot of work, but a lot of fun. I took mine car apart last summer. Replaced my stock 302 with a 331 + S-Trim Vortech supercharger. I'll try to post a pic later. Git'er done

Is that Funnel Boy? Wow, Jason, you been gone a long time. You should be on your fourth cobra build by now. Good looking setup. Maybe it will run someday. LOL.

Jeff,

She is doing good. She has been busy with massage. I graduate June 16th Preparing for the National Exam and will be joining Angelina in massage.

Hey Bob, yeah we have been gone a long time.

I have ran 95% of the wiring, just need to close a few ends and relays. The engine harness will be a breeze just plug it in Looking back, I should have bought the AAW harness new and started from scratch, rather than buying a used AAW one out of a Factory 5. It has been fun going back over what somebody else did Nothing wrong with it, just I would have been a little cleaner.

This motor came out of a Spec Racer and the blower bracket was modified to fit...however it is hitting a bar?? Might have to modify just a tad..the tail of the tranny is slightly off and I think the drive shaft will not fit in the drive shaft protective hoop because of this. I still have to have the bannan bracket on the 3 link welded and install a support bar due to the HP. Driver seat and tracks are already installed, will do the passenger side last.

It appears the DMV laws are a little goofy here, might have to have my mom title it in AZ and "buy" the "66" off her.

If time permits, I hope to have it "started" in the next several months. I wonder how long the 255's in the rear will last with 505 hp I plan to go with at least 275's in the rear, which means different rims in the future.

Paint and registration is on the back burner for sure.

I forgot to mention, I got rid of the P/U and got a Mini Cooper S, not a Cobra but it helps with the fix

Hey Jason,
The tranny angle not allowing the D shaft to fit the hoop may mean you are not aligned properly. You need to STRING the install or confirm the axis of crank/tranny main shaft and pinion are all in line. Then confirm the pinion and D shaft are in the correct angle etc.. Way too much for my 1 finger hacking so maybe call if I have confused ya.

Jason,
Make sure you find someone that has welded on a Ford 8.8 diff, if they are not careful the axle tube will warp. Also with the 3-link you can adjust the diff left & right with the panhard bar. Fix the the issue with the SC bracket first then look at the back half. Enjoy it will be a hot summer. I started tearing into my car at this time last year, pulled the motor on Memorial Day. I didn't get fully street legal again till mid Oct. You might want to invest in a evap cooler on wheels from Home Depot, it makes a difference.

Chappy...

It is not Angelina's fault. You need to be brought up to speed, Jason has been at this project for at least 4 to 5 years.

I snapped some pics to show you what I was talking about. The Spec racers have added support and I am thinking the easiest and cost effective would be to modify the support bar to bend out approx 2 inches in the area of the blower.

looks like your blower belt is a bit long, you need to have some more room between the tension pulley and the other side of the belt. making the adjustment on the brace that the blower is hitting will probably go a long way in solving your driveshaft issue.

This came out of a Spec Racer, he already had it modified to fit in his spec racer.

I am thinking the support braces on the Spec Racers are not precise and that is why it is hitting mine and why it wasn't hitting the previous spec racer brace. With the standard SC brace, these will not fit. I would have to fabricate (pay someone) to make a whole new brace or modify the support brace a tad.

I waited for Mikiec to post about the D shaft you are having fits with. He told me that is normal or happened to him too. Jack the tranny up to the floor and then install and then lower. Did I get it right Mike?? Mike also asked me for photos of older clieco fasteners, I think he is trying to compare to old family photos he has somewhere.

Jeff..

I must be getting old. I forgot that conversation.

Jason you need to jack up the back of the tranny 1 -2 inches. You should then be able to install the drive shaft. The same goes for removal.
