Run-n-gun
Anyone going to Run-N-Gun? I am thinking about taking my Lister. I hope to put it on the track at Firebird Sept. 26 and if all is well, head East.

Come on Mikee
ironman Bring that bad boy on. The lister kicked the crap out of all the cobras in 2001 at the R&G. That damn Chuck Beck and his tow truck motor cleaned house. That's not bad for a man who has poor vision. 1 Lister, 40 cobras what a beating. Rick L.

A Lister is any car that "leans". The nick-name was derived from the nautical term "list" which means "To lean to one side because of improper loading or damage to the hull." No! Wait! I did NOT stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night! I guess it might mean something like this:

Ironman,
We would love to have you come and give a thrashing. I can assure you it will be one of the best times you have ever had. Bill Frimpter usually meets Hersh and Lew Payne in New Mexico and they convoy into St. Louis. Remember early registration ends July 31st.
Let me know if you have any questions.

A lighter car than a cobra
macloft It's about 1,600-1,800 lbs with a SBC chevy in it. Longer that a cobra and runs on 9-10" tires if the fenders are stretched. It's a body sitting on a tube frame with a 46-54% wieght setup. Low to the ground. A Dio is close to it but not as long. About the same weight. It ran 1.03.9 at the roadcourse in 01. This ran against some quick cobras. That was the fastest until Morris came with the nasty cobra to reclaim the record. Morris is giving about an 700lbs advantage to the lister. Rick L

Hey Guys,
Me and Bernie made the Mid America Ford meet. We then headed down to Dallas to visit Jay Nordstrom. That's when my clutch decided not to cooperate. We were unable to get it fixed in time to make the LCS so I left it with Jay and rented a car. We got home yesterday. We both had a riot in Tulsa.
The good new is that we have to be out of this house by the 10th of July. The house has sold and I'm now busting my butt to get things organized for the move.
Steve, I will be going to R&G but I will be in Texas by then. Bernie Knight is also coming back and going with me.
I think you can take my place and caravan with Lou Payne. He's a riot to travel with. You will have a blast at R&G. It is by far my favorite track event. You will make more new friends and that alone will keep you coming back.
Keep pullin' that cape Clois. I love those friendly match ups. Sorry Rick ..

You just bring the car
LewisPayne You just bring the car. We can rebuild it on Tuesday and Wedsday for the racing days, NO PROBLEM. We found you a rack last year. Why what are you going to break this year??? You bring the spare clutch and trans. The rest is easy. Rick Lake " your lifetime mechanic"

Rick,
I needed you in Tulsa last week. Alternator went out after only 8 1/2 years. They sure don't make them like they use to . We finally made a deal with the Hotel for our Friday night meal and awards banquet. Guaranteed best sit down meal you have ever had at any Run n Gun event and what is best it is all you can eat for two hours. The hotel has guaranteed everything to be fresh and hot from the moment the doors open until we end our meal.

At least 2 problems about getting the # 10 Cobra to R&G this year.
1. Convience Patti I will not break anything too expensive. hum?
2. 3000 miles round trip at $4 plus a gal towing 7000 pound trailer that eats tires for breakfast ( yes I blew one coming back from Tulsa Shelby Nationals ) only getting 8 mpg -- do tha math.

A very wise man indeed, he must be a Cobra owner. I usually follow that rule as I am always doing my best to spend all my limited funds.

Hey, that's funny, now with the passing of George Carlin, I think you should bust a move.

Lew,
I have a 20 ft enclosed car trailer that I never use for long trips because it really decreases the mileage. That's why I use that little single axle trailer to tow the GT with. It is hardly noticable when towing. I figure that the car is in good hand when I get to R&G as it stays on the grounds at Gateway along with the trailer. I took the enclosed trailer one year and it cost almost double the fuel. I get about 22 MPG not towing and 18 with the small open trailer, 12MPG with the enclosed trailer.
Besides, you have to be there with the gas powered Margarita mixer, otherwise I might not show.
