My 540 Shafiroff motor gets a whopping 6 mpg, but at 540rwhp, it is fun... I got Jeff beat, but Karl is king at over 10mpg and still runs in the 10s...
Brian - Not sure how much more power I can handle?

Hey Eric,
I didn't know you were running one of Scott Shafiroff engines. They do put together some sweet engines. My old 4 to 5 MPH record was with a Shafiroff Comp Eliminator bullet that I was running on gas. I just got it back in the car after taking a couple of points compression out of it. I am now running 11.7 comp. on pump gas and she seems to like it. I see you have the Haltech injection system, I am running Holley's injection and tweaking maps as we speak, just about there. Was sure hoping to get better than 6 MPG but will take what I get. Karlos must be cheating to be doubling what we can squeeze out. Karlos ..... how you doing that good , I want some too!!!!!!!!!

My engine is very mild compared to yours and Eric's. 10.5 compression with aluminum heads and a relatively mild flat tappet hydralic cam. 3.50 gear with 28" tires. I also drive VERY conservatively.

Karlos, you don't do much of anything conservatively. I was also running an automatic tranny with a fairly loose converter that is now replaced with a 6 speed. The rear gear is a 3:73 and 25.5 tall tire didn't help MPG much either.

Jeff Conservative????? Isn't your motor an ex-alcohol funny car motor??? Holy Smokes Batman, I saw that motor's print out on the dyno at 850+hp!!! You just calmed it down a little for street use. I seem to remember a quarter mile burn-out also with your automatic tranny!!!

Hey Bob,
The engine was built for the drags and an alky engine, that's why compression was so high. She did do nice burnouts like at The Hersh launch pad..... LMAO !! The other 1/4 burn out was my run against Karlos at Speed world. That was the run I got 86'd from the track for busting runs at low 11's I think. The track would let you run only 12 sec or slower but it was Karlos NOT ME!!! They gave him my slip and visa versa. I was busy doing the 1/4 blazing the tires start to finish. Never did hook up that run and was a long way from low 11's more like a 12.5 I think. Thanks again Karl !!

Jeff,
I remember when Speedworld confused you with Karl and gave you the boot. You never did hook-up.
We need to go back. I haven't run the car since the upgrade to the 540, but it is a LOT faster... I do not expect to hook well, but...
Maybe Greg Schroeder can let us in on the next club day out at Speedworld. Everyone ready????

I'll come and watch if it is cooler out, if not I'll drive the Mitsu and get 30mpg and be cool!
Man I am missing out also... I only get 7mpg and the best ever was around 9-10 driving at 55mph. My motor is only 540hp at the crank with 11.5 compression. But man those Total seal rings sure are nice and the "pop" hasn't left yet.
Oh and Eric yes you can always handle more it's mind over throttle... Or over heating whichever comes first...
My car is finally running cool after the rebuild and loosening up those tolerances!

Karl....we left Indigo's Joe's about 3;30. Some of the guys watched you drive right by us on your northbound trip. We were parked very near the Brown Rd over pass on the west side of the northbound lane. I was the only Cobra (Dave bugged out). DavidS was there with his Daytona. The Copperstate Mustang group are really a nice bunch of guys.

I mean what is HP anyway? Just keep a simple mild smooth quiet car . We should all be conscious of the very few people that do not want to hear us coming down the road. We should do our part and never drive over the speed limit.
