I second that. I had talked with Todd at Roush this morning and he mentioned the possibility. Apparently we have 5 of the same engine here in Phoenix and 3 511 normally aspirated engines. I just want o be able to enjoy my car this fall. Hopefully they can figure out what is the bug since it involoves all of us with the same engine.

CSX, It sounds as if the throttle bodies are not in sync (air flow). I had (and sell) that setup on a 496" SO engine. They require an intial setup, but are fairly trouble free in the long run. If I can be of assistance, feel free to call. Thanks, Al 520-401-9142

Ron,

I left my car down there (at Anthem) this PM, so its waiting in line to be worked on by Roush, along with yours I guess. I'm confident they'll get this EFI tuning issue dialed in and these engines will be awesome. They troubleshot my oil leak and it was indeed from the speedometer cable which is an easy fix. Main oil seal is dry as a bone, whew.

Hopefully this will help get back on the road soon (and stay on the road) I am sure Anthem is getting sick of seeing us all They are still working on finding my new oil leak when I talked to Charlie today.

Sounds like this should be resolved before long. That's good news.

We have a run to Tucson on the 12th of October.

Well mine is one of those in line. My problem is that after a leak down test, I'm getting air past the rings in 3 cylinders. The car runs great. Just when you hit it it's blowing white smoke out the pipes. They think the rings might be stuck on those cylinders. I run pretty light weight oil/ conventional 10w-30wt as recommended by Roush. We'll see when they get here. They wanted to pull the motor and ship it to Roush, that's when I said wouldn't it be cheaper to get them here? FE bonanza there next week.

Smile wrong cam

Hi,
The stack efi doesn't like alot of overlap in the cam, the easiest and cost effective solution is to change the cam out for a smaller duration and wider lobe center. Comp cams can custom grind one , call the cam help #.
Good luck,
Perry.

One thing to consider, as a engine is breaking in, things change very fast, timing, fuel mixtures, and others as well, just a thought there.

Hey Ratsnst1,
I respectfully disagree. During engine break-in or after it has a few miles on it there should be no reason for the timing, fuel mixtures or whatever to vary from the original settings.

Some folks use a soft tune up until a they have a few miles on their baby but if anything moves it was not tight or it is breaking. I think it is a good idea to be a little conservative with timing and on injected engines set them a bit on the fat side.

I bet the Roush Boys could squeeze a little more HP out of their engines for the track but why push things for the general public on a warranted engine. Also bet it makes every bit of the advertised spec's even with that soft tune-up.

Smile

Before anyone says it no it is not rear wheel but I have the dyno sheet in original untweaked tune of 604 horsepower and 598 ft lbs of torque(at least for my particular engine). In the short times it has been running well so far that is more than enough to renew my respect for the car. I am sure the engine is capable of 75 to 100 more without trying to hard. i am just somewhat reluctant to mess with it as long as it is covered under warranty (especially lately)

Ron,
They (Roush) build a hell of an engine and its performance should install a smile from ear to ear. I know from my own experiences that once all gets sorted out you will love the instant response, drivabilty and steady performance of your injected Hot Rod. The ability to boil the rear tires at will is great. Let us know what the issue was when all is said & done.

Default Get a copy of the tuneup

csx4910 After they get your car running ok again make sure they burn you a copy of the tuneup. This is for backup if something goes wrong again. You should be able to download a software file. You have a private e-mail Rick L. Ps everyone with an FI system should have a backup disc. Just like your computor you are sitiing at.

I spoke to Paul at Anthem late this afternoon and the Roush engineer had gotten there but apparently was sick so took a quick look at the cars and said they would be in first this tomorrow to get started. I asked Anthem to find out if while they are there they can come up with an air filter that fits under the hood of my csx since NONE of the units on the market will fit on that engine and fit under my hood. It will on the superformace but not the CSX as the hoods are a bit different.

I actually had the same problem with the one they originally had on my carb. I found a K&N that was a 1/4" shorter and that's all it took. You have the 8 stack and I can't answer that one. Maybe they can come up with something. They are on those computers there all day with parts.

I spoke to Paul and he said that they were messing around with your car most of the day Ron. Working on the fuel injection system. They didn't get to mine. I'm going to try and pop in there today.

Default Air Cleaner

I had some issues with my 460 (first engine) clearance. G Levy made a custom air cleaner from scratch and it worked and looked great. Maybe Anthem could do the same for you. I may have a picture of it in my gallery.
