Welcome to the club here in Phoenix, I was up your way Sunday with the little women, spent the night in Prescott on Whiskey Row and came home noon time yesterday, it was fantastic weather wise up there.
you should think about the Laughlin run, there will be 20 to 30 cobras from the state up there.
It will be quite nice to finally meet all the faces that come with the names!!

Is anyone going to the Safeway show tonight? I am picking my car up this afternoon and I am anxious to get it back out on the road? What time do you guys normally get there. The pavillions are closer to my house but there never seems to be that many cobras.

Ron,
As far as I know the regular gang will be @ 83rd. During the summer months you could arrive around 7PM and still find an open spot. As the weather gets nicer the times keep getting earlier. You can always find 1 spot but to park with/as a group the times are now down to about 4:30 to 5PM. Maybe as late as 6 but that is really pushing it. I hope others will chip in with their time guess. What time guys to park with or as a group?????

I am going to try and come by after work depending on what time I get off. The weather today is perfect for the show.
Hope to see you there!

New guy here...
Hey gang,
I'm new to the forum, decided I needed to get back into the hot rod scene.
Did some drag racing in the early nineties, really miss the power!
Moved here from Texas 8 years ago, been pre-occupied with work, collecting guitars, work, flying, work, work, getting remarried 3 years ago, and work.
I'm trying to get the wife more involved with my old passion for drag racing and we finally found common ground.
She likes any kind of "old" cars with round fenders and such.
I like brutal acceleration and big engines stuffed into little cars.
We were at the car cruise in Scottsdale (Indian Bend) a couple years ago and there were a couple Cobras there.
She asked "What is THAT?"
I told her THAT was the ultimate sports car, and someday I would own one.
She agreed.
Okay, now all I need is the discretionary cash to make it happen....
Hoping to learn everything I can about actually making it happen, instead of simply looking at them for the last 30 years....
Hope I can contribute to the discussions, instead of being dead weight.
Thanks in advance for any guidance.
Dave

Dave, the MOST important consideration is what shade of RED are you gonna paint it?

Ya know, I was showing the wife some pics and she asked the very same thing....
I told her that the dark blue/white was sort of the traditional scheme in my mind, but red is just an obvious choice.
She agreed.
My dark secret is that I would prefer white, with stripes of some sort.
I've always been partial to orange, I guess from the 69 Z-28 Camaro.
Who knows....

About the only thing I have pinned own with any degree of certainty is powertrain.
I would LOVE to build a moderate Ford 460 for the cheap and easy displacement.
Live axle for simplicity.
What I would use for a transmission is a good question, I would prefer a wide ratio spread for creeping around at parking lot speeds and leaving the clutch out, while having plenty of top end gear for keeping rpm's down on the highway at eye-watering speeds.
Oh, and fuel economy of course!!!

You mean there is some other color than blue with white stripes????? I may have to sit down and absorb this.

Alrighty!
83rd and what cross street?
All I remembered was Safeway.
Looks like I'll be run out of my own house tomorrow afternoon, as it will be overflowing with estrogen.
Wife is having a girls get together, I gotta go somewhere.
Probably see you guys there.
EDIT;
Lake Pleasant & Deer Valley.
Got it!
Or maybe on 83rd like the Mapquest posted earlier....
:-)
