What is coming up
Some sarcastic points:
Is it me or has it been super cold this year. [Getting old]. Anybody planning on going to Pavilions that Barrett Jackson weekend [when is it]. What is this deal at Fair Grounds? Guns? boys, boys boys...I mean who is going to shoot at you driving one of these toys. This isn't LA.
These cars for the most part are just Volkswagens with different bodies, right? Oh boy!
Who cares what Shelby thinks. 99% of the people looking at these cars don't know what they are anyway. Is that an MGB? My grandfather had one of those when he was in Africa in the war....If you like yours, it doesn't matter.
Most of the owners have never had them on a track. Afraid to get a rock chip.... I saw one the other day that had a big flat wood board across the front (like the cops have for pushing)
Still think the bad’ist thing with a motor I ever had was my Donzi boat. Going 60 mph in a boat in rough chop [no seat belt] will get your attention fast. Or ask Levy how fast he was doing when he exited a little red craft at Roosevelt
So, any group things coming up? Still would like to see a private track thing somewhere....freeeeeeee Hah!

I was in an 18ft. Donzi classic doing about 50 in light chop up in Puget Sound when all of a sudden right in front of me I saw floating a 4x8 sheet of 3/4 inch plywood that was made invisible by the chop until I was right on top of it. I closed my eyes and watched my life go before me (along with the engine, outdrive and transom). Turns out it was a piece of cardboard. The lower unit cut thru it clean as a razor. Good thing too because it wasn't my boat.

FItz, These other guys might not take you seriously, but I do. To answer your question, the East Bumscrew crew and Cap'n Mikie are planning a lunch run on the 24Th. Not sure where, but it sounds like it might involve Superior and Catalina and Lunch and the crew from South Bumscrew since John has the clecos out of his hood. More will be published soon I think.. ??
Oh, and Maricopa has asked Mikie to invite Bubba..

Are Dave's green pills the ones that make him see little brown animals? Bob might like them if they mixed with the blue ones to produce seeing sheep that wouldn't try to run away from him. But come to think of it, considering Bob's profession, he probably already has just all sorts of chemical combinations that keep him "busy".

If you guys want to come on down to Tucson on the 24th I'll try to put together a run to Arivaca for coffee or lunch. From our normal meeting location in Tucson it takes an hour to get to Arivaca and about an hour and fifteen to get back via a different route. Our run to Arivaca is similar to your drive to Yarnell Hill, EXCEPT, it is 23 miles long. The longest straight away is about 1/2 mile in lenght ( most of us can't get over 100 on it ). The road is flat except for dozens of 5 and 10 foot climbs and drops, a few off camber turns, and 90% of the climbing turns are blind - you can't see where the road goes as you climb the rise. The road is two lane. Let me know. John

Hey John,
January 24th is the same date as the car show at Tubac. They expect their usual 400-500 cars again this year. Hey Phoenicians, cruise down and enjoy the show. It is only about 30 min south of Tucson.
John, you forgot to mention that the blind corners to Arivaca always have the possibility of a coyote or deer standing in the road. Great Fun!

Remember that road is where John had a choice of Barbed Wire or a tree stump.
To do that run would make a very, very long day. What ever you guys decide.

Back to where this thing started.. Just looked at the 10 day forecast and it looks like a warming trend. That's a good thing....for a while.. Should be toasty warm (at least 65) by the 24th..

Easily nice enough now for a Payson run, but it would be fun to meet up with with the Tucsonians.

I'm thinking making it to Aravaca would make for a too long of a day, especially for our brothern not from the East Valley. Superior, Winkleman, Catalina sounds like a pretty good run. Danr, its your deal.
