How about if no one speeds or runs a red light for a few months?
No tickets issued thus no revenue thus removal! Cities are not going to pay for maintenance and upkeep on something that doesn't generate revenue!
Simple, huh?

Just a thought, but it seems like a little discrete "midnight target practice" into the back of those cameras might make the replacement costs high enough that they would stop using them.

If you would like to go to the state prison, that would work... the cameras are recording video 24 X 7.
Paul G has the right idea, none of our representatives ever want to go back to work, so sending them a note to get this stuff gone or they will be out is the smart thing to do....

Thanks Paul, I've just e-mailed my state rep for the first time in my young life. The selective enforcement the state does in that they don't send tickets to out of state violators, really turns my crank.

Well it sounds like a radar device might be worhtwhile, along with driving the speed limit most of the time. The 10 MPH over is a good rule of thumb...but not 11 MPH over..could get caught by the Man's Camera resulting in added pain and expense.
Tip: They have been parking the Camera SUV Van on Hwy. 95 (AZ), both coming into Havasu north and south entrances, so beware.

Tails Dan don't come to NJ and stick out the finger of love. It's $250 if the cops see you and they all in my area now have video in the cars running full time. This state is broke and looking at every way to get money from the tax payers. Rick L.

Dang talk about an expensive way to show your freedom of speech... haha
In all honesty the majority of the time I stick to the 5 over rule of thumb unless it's in a school zone, parking lot, etc...
Although we all know people like us love to have the occasional spirited driving session so I plan doing something like these guys..

I like the story of the guy that got the red light ticket in the mail showing a picture of him running the red light.
He sent back a picture of a check in the amount of the fine.
He then received a picture of handcuffs in the mail.
He subsequently paid the fine.

Think 1984..BIG BROTHER!
Wouldn't it be a great idea to place a "Lowjackmotion Locator" in all motor vehicles. Then Big Brother could monitor all vehicles as they all traveled around the country from a eye in the sky satelight. We would then recieve our violation notices in the mail along with the required retraining, fines and a print out of all our actiivties and travels.
This will be the best of the managed systems because it is fair and run by the Computer Man..an out of control Nano bot.
Am I sick or what! Bill

Bill, I don't know about the spray stuff, but the license plate covers that split the light don't work. I make the plate difficult to read, but it's still legible.

Maybe you guys need to try something like this to get around the speed cameras:
http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/24/t...e-via-speed-c/
Maybe if there are enough paper plates photographed without being able to issue tickets the problem will go away.

Well, I found out part of the reason that Arizona is getting rid of photo radar. Seems the cost of maintaining them has risen dramatically. Especially with the over time pay for the live cops that have to sit and guard the cameras from vandalism. Seems there is a clause in the contract that makes the state responsible if the cameras get damaged and they don't come cheap. Things like spray paint and gold clubs and baseball bats, when they come in direct contact, have an adverse effect on the functionality of the camera.
Mikie would know anything about those would ya Mikie?

I say we all use the Governor's plate number. Or the Police Chief's..... That would get their attention.

big brother
read an article reviewing new 2010 gt 500, it will be equipped with data recorder(aka black box)that records all vehicle info. this info could be available to anyone police, certainly factory& dealer for warranty claims, lawyers, etc. and possibly used to refuse warranty claims or prosecute
in cases of accidents etc. other cars probably also have it already.
