Invite from the far west!
Hi you guys and Gals!
I'm a member of the Havasu Classics Car Club here in Lake Havasu City, AZ. We have about 150 members ( I wish they all had Cobra's) with various types of cars. The Club has many activities that range from cruises, shows and plenty of social events..something for everyone.
We are planning Havasu Classics 13th. Annual Show & Shine for March 27-28, 2009. It's a fun time with lots of stuff to do such as, Friday night cruise & park on McCulloch Blvd. The Friday night park is free to the public and visited by a most of the citiies residents and thousands of out of town visitors. On Saturday the 28th., we have the car show Rally at Rotary Park having several hundred vehicles and is well supported with vendors etc.
It would be great if some of you all with your Cobras could attend this event. How fantastic it would be to see a row of Cobras..line up..in force instead of just the regular one or two form Havasu .
Anyway, You can take a look at the Clubs web site to check out past car shows and get a look at the McCulloch Blvd. parking on Friday night.
HavasuClassics.com
There is an application on-line and if your interested, I can help coordinate Hotel locations that will be good especially for more secure parking.
Anyway, FYI Bill Bess (928) 680-8042

Looks like a great show. The weather must be nice in Havasu that time of year!

Sounding like a good idea. Shouldn't be too hot by then and I'm pretty sure I'll be back from Savannah.

Giants vs. Padres on the 28th. Otherwise, sounded good.

Mike B? Sounds like a feeble excuse from the guy growling that there aren't enough events. You'd pass up a nice weekend fling for a spring training game that doesn't even count?

THank you Karl. Mike, What's up with the spring BB? That's better than a weekend in Havasu with your cobra and your lovely wife?

It will not be hot at all in March. We usuall don't start going out there until the end of April, and it is just starting to warm up.
Sounds like a fun time BTW, but my snow birds are there until April 1st.

Sounds like some of the more adventurous cobra owners might be interested.
Last year it was down right hot on the Saturday of the show...but who knows..just as long as it doesn't rain.
Anyway, if some of you all do want to come to Havasu..let me know and I'll do some of the "leg work" for you.
Best Time Ever, Bill

Hey Bill, how many hours from LA? Haven't been to Havasu for a long time and that sounds like fun. Think I could trailer my car and pull my boat behind that?

Matt, it's about 4 hours driving time...5.5 if you stop to eat.
Take I-15 to Barstow and then to Needles on I-40, cross the river at Topock and 7 miles to turn off at AZ Hwy. 95 south and then 20 miles into town. If you got here by noon of Friday, you will be just in time to line up on McCulloch Blvd.
Let me know if your go to do it, Bill
Also Karlos..very cool, start building a fire under those guys.

Hi Dan, Karlos, Matt and all the AZ guys and Gals.
Here is some more information regarding hotels here is Havasu city.
The best place I found for Cobra's, is Island Suites, (928) 855-7333. It is new, some rooms have kitchens, they advertise a continental breakfast, there located near several restaurants (won't have to drive to food if you don't want to). They are located just off McCulloch Blvd. on Lake Havasu Blvd. in the best part of town (near the London Bridge and Starbucks). None of the hotels have secure parking , but Island Suites has a clean parking lot with dividers/planters that afford a little protection from other cars and is kind of hidden from the street, it's the best one I found. Some of my relatives have stayed there and said it was very good.
Now if you are going to attend the Friday night "Cruise to downtown" on McCulloch Blvd. which is just down the street form the Island Suites it will be easy. You will need to be there a bit early 2 -3 pm so we can park together. I you give me a call, I'll coordinate things so we can all park as a unit if that's what you guys would like to do. The same thing goes for the car show the next day (Sat.)..if we go in together, we can line- up together. There are several places to eat on McCulloch where we will be parked Friday night.
The parking on McCulloch is "free" but the car show you will have to register and pay.
So, with all that BS said, if you plan to come to Lake Havasu City on March 27th. through the 28th. for this event, call me at (928) 680-8042, or cell number (818) 416-9953
Hope you all can make it, it will be a great weekend, Bill Bess

Well, Karl is kind of out of the running for this one. I'm still planning on making the trip. Anyone else from the PHX area plan on going? Sounds like an adventure to me.

Will be there Friday for the Cruise In.
Do we get a prize for coming from the longest distance away from Havasu?

Dale..at least a couple of beers for starter's. I have no clue as to prizes in this show, the biggest reward is that we Cobra folks really do have the "Coolest Cars" around and the most fun to drive.
See you soon, Bill

Bill,
Look forward to meeting you all Friday the 27th of March unless you see us on the road before that. Will be terrorizing the Havasu natives.
