Sounds like a good time. FYI though, I go to Oatman a couple times a year when I am at my house in Havasu, and I will not take the cobra there because of parking, the donkeys, and the dirt.
The town is very cool, but it is an old west town with one main street with donkeys wandering all over town. Unless you can get a prime spot on the street (which is tough) you are left with dirt parking areas. If you do get a spot on the street you have to deal with a lot of foot traffic and a fake gunfight in the street every hour or so right next to your vehicles. Cool place, but in a car with no top and a nice paint job I would not take my car there.

Sandy, we (the AZCOBRAs) go as a group every year since 2002. Mikec went alone in 2001. I have my entry. We leave I-17 & Carefree Hwy on Friday noonish and drive up through Prescott to Ash Fork and the I-40. In the past we have been staying Friday night in Williams but this year we are staying 2 nights in Kingman. You will receive an e-mail from Mike when we get closer. Last year there were 900+ cars. It is fun.

SPO-I totally disagree. We were there 2 times last year once with the Cobra and once in our daily driver with 15 other Cobra's. Yes, parking can be tough but no one had any problem with the donkeys or the dirt.
Sandy- As Bob says, the route 66 fun run is really a good run and there will be lots of PHX guys/gals there with their Cobra's. I believe it is one of the bigger events for the PHX crowd and no one is disappointed with the event or the cruise. Lot's of good stuff going on and the weather was pretty nice last year. We had never been to Oatman before the fun run and enjoyed the entire venu the town had to offer.
Plan to attend and you won't be disappointed.

Sandy, Not only is it fun, but there are photo ops that you won't find anywhere else in the world. Be brave. Jump in.

SPO1715, I suggest that you just park your car in a garage and never take it out. That way it won't get any dust, rocks, or donky s@#$ on it. What does not having a top have to do with anything ? Are you real or a figment of one of the Phoenix guys imagination ? What does a fake gun fight or a lot of foot traffic have to do with taking a Cobra to Oatman ??? SandyC, go for it, drive your Cobra and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells. John

Hey, I've driven my cobra through Oatman (both ways) numerous times, and yes we stopped and smelled the roses (donkey poo).
Ya......! the town is somtimes a bit crowded with traffic and parking may take a few minutes to find a safe place where some tourist won't droll on your car and you won't be part of the fake gun fights......(some cowboy getting shot next to your sidepipes)
The road going south from Kingman is a bit rough on old 66, but not too bad. There's a cool old gas station that provides a great photo op and has a neat little musem to check out.
Anyway, the roads are good, you can haul ass on some of them and just putt in the rough parts.
Just drive the car and think your Carl Edwards or Kyl Bush.........................!

How many times have you been there? My house in Havasu is about 45 minutes away, and like I said I go at least twice a year when I am out there (every other weekend 8 months of the year). I was just trying to give a fair warning. The town can be a bit of a shock to someone that has not been before.
The fake gunfight happens in the middle of the street right next to the vehicles parked on the sides. Large crowds gather to watch this next to the cars. If you don't mind some scratches on your car, then I guess you can go ahead an take that chance.
Not having a top? The last couple times I have been there (last year) there was no parking on the street and we had to park in a dirt parking area. Again, maybe you don't care about the inside of your car getting covered in dirt as people drive in and out but I do.
I will just take my Harley and leave the cobra tour of Oatman to better people like you.

Oatman
We have been to Oatman so many times that on Sunday morning of the Fun Run we just head home. I can be home by noon so the rest of the day is mine. Except for the honeydos, and the mowing, and the trash, and the weeds, and the trimming, and........don't forget cleaning the cobra.

Dan and Karl, even I can make the 66 fun run. It's a great drive. Lots of short runs, lots of stops. It's hard to keep a lot of cobras together. Like herding cats.
