Default Overhaul RedOne

It's beginning to look like a motor again!

It was kind of dirty when we started......

Dan the motor is looking good. While apart did you make any upgrades or changes to it?

Well is she alive and purring yet? I may be a little late on this suggestion but remember to spay and wipe down your coated headers with brake clean before start up. During assembly and all the work you have done a bit of oil and whatever get on the headers and exhaust that can discolor the finish when heated during run in. A light touch with OOOO steel wool and then an air gun will clean any discolored spot on the new Jet-Hot coating if I an too late. I can not wait to hear your new baby run, hope to see ya soon.

Ron, New cam and lifters, new intake, new heads, roller rockers, new water pump, Jet Hot coated headers, 8 qt. oil pan with windage tray, lifted the engine 1/4 inch to get the clutch cylinder off of the frame....Um let's see????? I think that's it..

Jeff, not yet. I'll get it running tomorrow if the rocks leave me alone. I'll let you know. Thanks for the reminder on the headers.

Dan,
She looks good but how does she run? Give us an overview. Ya know like idle characteristics, throttle response, does she seem to carry the rear gear well ???
Hope to see that Chebbie orange Hot Rod tonight at 83rd. Are you planning on making the trip.?

IT's a little soon to tell about handling characteristics Jeff. I haven't had it over 60 yet. Took it out a little bit for a spin last night, but didn't get into it too much. It sounds like it should just scream though. Throttle response seem good though.

I'm going to try to make it to 83rd this evening for a while.. If you're there, I'll see you.

Maricopa, please bring my stuff with you to 83rd tonight and maybe Danr will be so kind as to bring it out to God's Country. I can hook up with him sometime to take them off his hands. T'nks.

Will do amigo.

I haven't heard from anyone about the Pav so I'll probably save myself the hassle and just do 83rd. I'll bring everybody's stuff just in case.

Dan the car looked great and sounded killer. You did win the 'most likely' award but since you left I gave it to the guy with the blown Chebbie powered Nash.

I saw and heard Dan's Toy last night and she looked good. He had the idle speed up a little when he arrived but then slowed her down to a nice lope. Not bad sounding for a want to be chebbie. All kidding aside the FE looked and sounded decent and should breath a lot better with the new arruminum Edelbrocks top end. What did you drop 150 to 200 pounds shedding the cast iron set up? Did you bump the compression a little with the aluminum heads or go with the same C/R ? Jeff C

Very observant, Glasshoppah.. Best I can calculate, I shed about 180 pounds going from cast iron to arruminum all around. Head capacity went from 76 CCs to 72 CC so the compression ratio went up to about 10.7:1. It sounds like it too. I'm afraid I'm going to have to hang the earplugs on the rear view mirror again.

Maricopa, Thanks for handling that for me.. I appreciate it. He probably needed it more than I did anyway. My trunk was full.

Karl, Ask your wife for your stuff. I hope she gives it to you.

Danr, thanks for the delivery and glad you have your buggy on the road again. You missed a fun day in Tucson, today.
