Default Annual Challenge

The annual Phoenix vs Tucson challenge is set for May 9th.

John K. will setup a meeting place for breakfast in Florence and then a run.

The Phoenix.. etc gang, have never lost this challenge, don't let us down this year. The Tucson gang it seems are very confident of a win this year.

Danr will be the man on the scene as I will be leaving for Boston that morning.

Mike

Mikie, I'll take your place as I should be back to AZ at the beginning of the month. It's a long drive from Chi-town but well worth it, to be driving with yus guys again.

Ralph, We'll be glad to have you.. With Mikie and Bob both out, we'll feel threatened by the mighty 5 from Tucson.. Did they really have 5 cars last time? I was a bit distracted and didn't notice.

Danr, I assume that you have a pocket full of money. Your arogant remarts will cost you a bundle. You mentioned 5 Cobras from Tucson, will you make a side bet with me for $5.00 for each Cobra over the 5 ? I'll pay you $5.00 for each Cobra over 25 that you guys show up with. John PS. Let the game begin !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John, Does that sound fair to you? I don't think so. If you recall, I was a bit distracted for the challenge last year. I don't really know how many cars you had. Here is what I will do, I will give you $1.00 for every Cobra you have more than you had last year and take $1.00 for every Cobra we produce over what we had in Globe last year.. plus the ice cream that you are going to buy.. How does that sound? I think Phoenix showed up in Globe with 13 cars last year. Is that right? nand Tucson had 8?

Hey Dan, Last year you guys had the beginnings of a great showing. I think that the total for you guys in Globe was 17, we, from Tucson had 11. While I know that what ever number you use, 13 or 17, you guys SHOULD excede that number by 10 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where are all of the Phoenix area Cobras ????????????? What do I have to Challenge you with ? A new Chevy for each winner ??? ( or is that, whinner ? ) I'll tell you what I'll do --- for every Cobra OVER 25 ( that is not an age) that shows up AND completes the drive to Casa Grande I will DOUBLE the award. The award will be paid off at a Dairy Queen in Casa Grande.

Phoenix Cobras ----------------- On Saturday, May 9th , we, the Tucson gang will meet you in Florence, AZ, at the Old Pueblo Restaurant. The time is 9;00 am for breakfast. Knowing that many of you are directionally challenged and map illerate please follow these easy directions to get to the restaurant. Drive south ( into the sun) on route #79, to Florence, go past the Chevron gas station and turn right at Ruggles St. You'll be turning in front of the Mount Athos Restaurant, it's painted a rust and mustard color. Drive west to the stop sign and turn left on Main St. Drive about one mile thru town and look to your right for a silver water tower that is about 50 ' tall. The restaurant is to the left. Park in the parking lot, there is plenty of room for all of our Cobras. I am sorry that I don't have the address but the restaurant is clearly visible.

Misdirection! John, the sun is in the east at 9:00AM not the south, but we'll be there anyway. Can I get a general indication from Phoenix guys who is going to show for this run? I figure we can meet at the standard station at Idaho and the US 60 about 7:45 for an 8:00 departure and get our ice cream about 11:00. How is that for you John? Hope our ice cream money isn't burning a hole in your pocket.

OK Dan, you passed the test. With Mikiec, Karl, and Dave I can never be sure that you guys know your right from your left and the north from the south. The basic plan is after breakfast we'll drive a few miles down to Eloy and stop there for about 20 minutes. After leaving Eloy we will head northwest toward Casa Grande, a stop there for about 1/2 hour and then on to the reward at the Dairy Queen in the middle of the town. There is a park across the street that we can lay on the grass and eat our ice cream. I don't think that we'll be done by 11:00 am, more like 1:00 pm. And that would be in Casa Grande. You'll have to add the time for you to drive home, I think that Casa Grande is mile post 194 on I-10 and Sky Harbor is mile post 150, base your "home" time on that.

Will the Tucson gang be supplying the tent so the winners can eat their ice cream without the harsh sun melting our tasty treat?

Does this posting mean that you'll be able to attend ? No, we aren't going to put up a tent, you are going to have to be a man and brave the 100 degree temps. We are off to Boston in the morning. See you on the 9th.

Danr

Now that Ralph is FINALLY going to be back in town, I can pull out my COBRA and join. I missed the last challenge but I won't let that happen twice.
If we are going to meet at the DQ in downtown, you won't need the tent as there are several large trees for shade. The best part of this challenge is I only have to drive @ 20 miles in the heat to get home. Thanks John.

Ralph I hope you make it here in time so I can use you as an excuse to my wife that I HAVE TO GO!!!!!!

Lonestar 24

P.S. Let me know if you really want a tent. It's not far from the house and I can get my kid to set one up while we are driving. Also Ice chests with drinks.

Mike was joking about the tent, but I'm not joking about you showing up. If you need an excuse, use me.. I'm use to it. Mikie does it all the time. Especially when he wants to get into my pants.. which he is doing handly lately. Pretty soon he'll be after Broberg's britches.. Even if Ralph doesn't make it, use him anyway. We'll see you there.

The address for Old Pueblo is 505 S. Main St. for any Phoenix Cobras who wish to drive straight there rather than meeting in AJ.. Otherwise, I'll see you all at 7:45 on Saturday.

Tent ???????????? Ice Chests ???????????? Drinks ?????? I knew that you guys were soft !!! But This ?????? After a second thought, the winners would certainly appricate the shade and comforts of home .... soooooo... Yes, the Tucson guys are willing to accept your graciuos offer. Let the tent be open, let the ice chests hold cold rewards, and the popping of the drink cans will drown out the sobs of the Phoenix Cobras as they lose the "Challenge".

I may be sending Nancy Pelosi in my place so most all of you can beat the crap out of her. Now I can go have a nice vintage wine.
