A message from Tucson John
Ok, now the gauntlet has been tossed. I was copied on an email from John to the Tucson guys describing the conditions under which they are going to eat their ice cream paid for by the Phoenix Club. I've also been copied on several responses from the Tucson club indicating that they are going to have a crowd. I've heard nothing from the Phoenix crowd. WHat's up with that? You all think that just because Mikie the Slender is going to be gone the you all can slack on this? You think I am going to pay for their ice cream if Phoenix loses and that won't be as bad as Mikie having to pay? Well guess what, not even close. Mikie has already assigned responsibility for the Tucson Ice Cream is we lose by one car and if we lose by two cars. If we lose by more than two cars, he's going to make Ginny pay. You don't want to see that, do you? Mikie all black and blue from trying to make Ginny pay for the Tucson guy's ice cream. Let's see some support. Who's gonna make it on Saturday 5/9?

I may join y'all this year, if the wife and I can get a sitter for Jr. The Cobra is running like a beast, so look-out.
I have not seen if Brian is going. I am already in Queentucky, so I don't want to jump up to AJ.
Do I understand correctly? 9:00 at some restaurant in Florence, this Saturday, the 9th?

9:00 AM at some restaraunt in Florence on Saturday 9 May is correct. Why don't you pick us up at Riggs Rd and 89A on the way to Florence about 8:20 or so. We are leaving AJ at 8:00 sharp. That way we'll look more impressive to the Tucson wimps.. er, ah.. fellows.

You caught me Sandy. It's Hwy 79 and Arizona Farms Rd. If you Southern folk would like to meet up down there rather than driving up to AJ, let's say 8:30 at 79 and AZ Farms Rd.

Danr55; My My My, how you love to trash talk about us good ol’ Tucson folk. Your trash talk got me to do some serious pondering, which I readily admit I can only bring myself to do about twice a year, and here is what I reconn.
You constantly pit Phoenix against Tucson in all of your petty games and cheer about your shallow victories. Now think about what I am about to say real carefully. Is it really just Phoenix against Tucson, or is it more like Phoenix, Tempe, Scottsdale, Mesa, Chandler, Surprise, Gilbert, Glendale, Apache Junction, Avondale, Goodyear, Carefree, Cave Creek, Peoria, and Sun City against Tucson and maybe Oro Valley and Catalina? I’m a figurin that the combined population of what you refer to as “Phoenix”, is over 4,000,000. The combined population of Tucson Metro area including Oro Valley and Catalina is at best about 900,000, or roughly 22.5% the size of your thriving Valley Of The Sun.
I’m a thinkin that it is only fair that an event where the winner is based on participants, that the so called Phoenix guys (which is really the 17+++ cities guys) needs to have at least 5 times the number of participants than Tucson has to declare a victory.
Not only am I a thinkin it, I’m a knowin that’s the way us Tucson folks are gonna say it’s gotta bee this Saturday. Especially in light of your uncalled for comments about us Tucson folks being wimps. John may cave in, but I’m a thinkin very few others will.
Now setting aside my “good ol boy” vernacular and with all seriousness, I think an apology for your wimp comment is in order. After all this is supposed to be a fun rivalry.

I think you are right on Night Enforcer but you forgot to include Queen Creek and Paradise Valley.

If I have offended anyone in my effort to stoke the fires of rivalry, I apologize. My sarcasm was intended in strictest humor with no mal intent. I don't know how long you've been around this crowd, but I've only been here for a few years. I know that John and Mikie spend many hours each year poking and prodding each other as do many of us. It's all done in the spirit of humor and comradship. If I've hurt your feelings, I apologize. Roll out more cars than you did last year and you'll probably win an ice cream on me. If not, then I will eat my ice cream with great humility and just a bit of satisfaction. The truth will out on Saturday. I say with the truest of intentions, Good Luck.

Dan,
I was getting concerned you were just putting too much pressure on us here in Arizona, well those of us not in Tucson anyway. Now that I know you were just prodding us to increase participation I am good with that.

Hey, It's my money..................... besides I don't know where the winners plaque is.
Night Enforcer.. I don't know who you are, but chill out. John and I have been doing this us vs them for many years. We will continue to do this for many more years to come. Most of the Tucson gang know me and know it is a friendly riverly.
Be there to support the Tucson gang.

Danr55, I appreciate your comments regarding the rivalry, but I still think the Phoenix guys need to bring 5 times the Tucson cars to win. Otherwise the "cars" are statistically stacked in your favor. You do that and I will be glad to buy you ice cream. Let's have some fun challenges that are fair to both group to promote real comradship.
mikiec, I don't understand the point about your money. Are you already conceding? Anyway you and John can hammer each other all you want. But when you involve others in the your trash talk it gets a little tiresome, especially when the challenges are always slanted in your favor and the trash talk goes on and on. Let's just enjoy our cars and have some fun.
You may not know me but I know you. I have been to every joint event since November 08 except one, and have shook your hand, introduced myself and spoke with you several times.
In any event I find your comments kind of ironic. Some guys in the Phoenix group can trash the Tucson group all they want, but as soon as someone from Tucson gets a little fiesty, supports the Tucson guys and gals and questions the terms of the challenges or events you say he needs to "chill out" LOL Trust me, I am cool as a cucumber but as competitive as a badger; but to stay on point, I still think for this challenge to be fair, Phoenix needs to bring five times the cars that Tucson does. It is only fair. Good Luck!
See you Saturday

Night enforcer... I never concede.
It's my money because if we lose I pay. The trash talk, as you call it, is to get as many of the Tucson gang and Phoenix gang together at one time.
Let the games begin.

Looking forward to ice cream either way and with a bunch of Cobra guys & gals. Let's see who shows up with the most Cobras.
So what type of ice cream does this gang need? It would have to have plenty of sand, must already have big nuts with a high octane whipped cream and ... what else?
