Black powder question
Well I finally went and did it. No not a full load of powder and shot. I got the nerve to place a cap on the revolver and fired it off. Just testing to see if I could blow a hole in my thumb. No hole. I do have a question....
Is the cap supposed to split after firing?

Splitting sometimes happens. Don't be alarmed.
Now that you wasted a primer did you clean it? Same as shooting it with powder.

Yes,
I could not clean the primer as it was all mis-shapen.
I cleaned it.

I am ignorant when it comes to these types of guns. What is the difference between an M-60 and twin-50's. The link below is what they have to offer in Machine guns
Thanks
Ron

The M 60 is a hand carried machine gun firing a 7.62MM Nato round. Commonly called a Pig by the grunts that used it.
20MM Vulcan is a multi barreled cannon firing 20 MM rounds at a rate of 100 rounds a second.
Mini gun same type weapon as the Vulcan firing the 7.62 round at a rate of 6000 rounds per minute
Looking at your list I would still go for the Thompson.

Black Powder Revolver
If you are shooting a black powder revolver sparks occur. It is important to seal all cylinders that are loaded. After I measure and load the black powder I measure an amount of Cream of Wheat so when the ball is placed in the clinder it is positioned just below the top of the cylinder. I load all cylinders. Then I take a spatula with Crisco and cover the top of each cylinder to prevent a spark from causing an accidental discharge. Discharging a cylinder not in position with the barrel will explode the gun doing some serious injury. Black powder revolvers are fun but a little messy.

Now you see. That's the difference between Mikie and normal people. Normal folks would say the 240 would yield the biggest bang with the RPK a close second. (RPK's are fun to shoot but don't expect to hit anything you aim at. They are not known for accuracy) The Thompson has nostalgic value and is probably the most difficult to control. Shoot the SAW and call it good.

control
Dan control of a machinegun comes with pratice. To show out I shoot a AK 47 or a Thompson with drums one handed. I start with two hands and the gun waist high. Once I start firing, I slowly move the gun with one hand over my head and still on target. I do have this on video. I wish I could post the video.

I'm in for the 20mm.
Are you going to shoot just one? Can you do more than one?
Dang, see if they have a mini.

I shoot black powder all the time, do competitions, etc. I have one friend that worked at the air national guard, and they were changing out barrels on the 20mm Vulcan cannons on some choppers. As a goof, he built a muzzle loader out of one and machined a bullet mold. It was amazing when he shot it and he was doing pretty well with it in a competition, but the second day, he was shaking off a pretty bad hang over, shot it one time, and put it back in the truck and grabbed a lawn chair. I never asked what he did with it, but it was fun!

Ron, if you don't want to drop a ton on ammo, stick with something in 9mm. These things will eat $20s in the blink of an eye. I've fired an old Sten and it cycles so slowly that its not difficult to run two or three round bursts. It's real interesting that the Stens were so cheaply made and so simple that they are definitely throw away guns, but they will spit out some lead and can be totally abused. Rat tat tat tat tat tat
