Default I got Photo Radar Ticket 67 in 55- Now what?

I have been told by many that you should just pitch the ticket you get in the mail. Mine says....
Pay the $181.00 by 7/30/09 . No Court appearance is required no points will be assessed to driving record. Can not get out of it by attending Driving School. It says if I do not pay, a full sanction and surcharge and complaint will be filed into court, whch may result in additonal cost. Blurred Picture of person driving my car with clear picture of Plate.

[1] Should I pay
[2] Pitch
[3] Fight the ticket

You're guilty, and you know it. Pay the fine and be done with it. Since there are no points there's no report to your insurance company; no onging penalty for the next 5 years.

On the rare occasion I get busted for speeding, I generally deserve it. If it was just a ticket and a fine, I would just write a check and chalk it up to experiance. But then the insurance company gets ahold of that, and you're hosed for years. I think that's the only reason people fight tickets.

The critical thing here is

1. Does the picture look like you, i.e. would a person who is not related to you recognize you from the picture. If no, ask for a better photo and they will leave you alone.

2. If it does look like you, just pay it - they can really get rough with these things like cancelling your license without telling you etc..

3. go get a decent radar detector like a valentine one and you won't get any more from the vans...

4. pitch the ticket and they will arrest you if you ever get stopped by the cops for anything else... you will have an outstanding fine..

The thing I don't understand about these tickets is; how do they know you received the citation? Unless it was sent registered mail and you signed for it, I can't see how any mail citation could be valid.

What if you really didn't get it in the mail? Then what would they do?

Larry it's the price of admission, nobody likes the reality of getting a notice for something like this. If you challenge it, they will ask for the individuals name that was driving it. They have heard ALLLLL the stories.

I feel sorry that you got caught. I have been there myself. I was told to throw mine out also. Aizona ticket to someone in California. They will notify California if I did not pay. In your case, if it was you just pay it. The greif is done once you write the check.
Personally I like what they do with photo pictures in Germany. They mail the ticket to the registered owner. They don't care who was driving. If the owner does not pay they come get the car.

Okay, someone here was at the AZ proving grounds and got a PHOTO ticket.

They got a copy of some thingy from a judge that said these were unconstitutional and sent it in.

The ticket was dismissed.

In their photo, you can see there were two people in the car. We do not know if the ticket was dismissed because there were two people or because of the judge's thingy.

You might want to do a little research on the judges thingy and see if it floats.

You'll still get a ticket, but at least your plate won't fade.

I'm pretty sure that when the great state of Arizona needs more money they will simply lower the speed limits. George Orwell never thought of this fine idea. What if they put a camera every 100 yards, do you get three tickets? Where does this nonsense end? It's just a matter of time before all cars come with transponders (for our safety) and the state tracks you everwhere you go.

It's all in the name of safety. How about a state limit of 10MPH, that way nobody ever gets hurt. Let's think about banning swimming pools too, someone may drown.

No one deserves a ticket for less then 30 over.If you want to "bend over" for the government-go ahead. But stop saying everyone else should do it.

Those cameras are springing up like weeds around here. I knew where some of them were but I got a sight that shows all of them and there must be at least close to 90 in this 10 mile area. I don't believe there is a place you can drive on the freeway or in town that a camera isn't watching. So I drive at the speed limit and no problems so far. I did speed up to 75 in a 65 zone today to let a CHP car with the light and siren going pass as I had to clear a couple of cars to get over.

just pay it through the mail. If you elect to go to court and challenge it, you are likely to still pay the fine. If the JUDGE requires you pay the fine, he/she will tell you to get reimbursed by the UNKNOWN driver of YOUR vehicle when YOU figure out who borrowed/stole YOUR vehicle and YOU didnt know who was driving YOUR vehicle !!!

Well, one note, they really can't figure out who is driving your car and go after that unknown drivers lic. but they do suspend the renewal of the vehicle if there is outstanding violations.
Another way to look at speed over the limit is $15.00 per mile an hour over = $181.00

Why not just pay it and drive the speed limit...works for me.
