Butler for Sale
Yep, its time - a sad day but its time to sell my prized Butler Cobra. Originally finished back in 1994, she is still in tip top shape. Dark metallic green (no stripes) with a big-block Chevy. I know, I know... sacrilidge but my family has owned Chevy dealerships since the '20s so the heart of my beast had to have a bowtie. The car was delivered from Butler as a rolling-chassis in April 1993 with an invoice (which I still have) price of $33,513.
The engine started life as a GM crate 454 HO. I've since added:
- Edelbrock Performer 454-O aluminum heads (9.25:1) with a 3-angle valve job
- Chevy LS-6 manifold (old, rare 'Vette piece - the only one that will fit under the hood with a carb and a reasonable air-cleaner)
- Edelbrock Torker-II cam
- Holley 770 Street Avenger
- Custom aluminum valve covers
- MSD 6AL, Blaster coil and distributor (modified to fit under the cowl)
Other parts, Butler options and modifications:
- Richmond Gear "Nash" 5-speed
- Hays bellhousing & clutch
- McLeod hydraulic slave/throw-out bearing
- Jag IRS with 3.07 Lokar
- Big-block springs
- JFZ brakes & SS brake lines
- Fuel tank modified with baffle and sump
- Holley electric fuel pump
- Braided stainless hoses just about everywhere
- Tonneau cover
- Jet-hot side pipes and headers
- Painted frame
- Underbody sealed/coated
- Aluminum hood scoop
- Simpson race harnesses
- Leather seats
I have all kinds of pictures, receipts, notes and more from the first day it rolled off the truck till now. I'm in the process of preparing a website with the latest pictures. I'll post the link when it's ready. In the meantime, I'm putting it on the market for $40,000. I don't even want to think how much I've invested in it!
