So given LoBellys advise ,does anybody out there have an unfinished project they desperatly trying to unload at give away prices ??

OR as another very helpful member suggested ,(Thank you Cameron) does anybody have a car that's a bit untidy or knocked around they might want to dispose of at the right odds??

That blue car sold on EBAY for $33900.00 A goodish buy. Like anything you get what you pay for....

The odd bargain but few and far between I'm afraid.

Come to a breaky and see whats around so as you can evaluate what type of $'s equal what type of cars...

Too ALL owners though their cars are irreplaceable!

Yeah ,I know everybody thinks THEIR car is special regardless of condition ,that's understandable . I guess I have to be Johnny on the spot at the right place and right time .......with a pocket (or pockets ) full of CASH !!!!!

LoBelly is right on the mark!!

The numerous years of research I did before I was near having paola to buy meant that when I did look at the many unfinished kits I knew what I was looking at, that the pricing was good, bad or indifferent and what else the kit needed to get finished.

My kit got advertised three times dropping $3K between ads till I went in and offered a shade less again and bought it. Even mine was not quite all the bargain I thought I'd get but it did allow me to get into a car which is the aim of the exercise.

Spend time doing the research like you really are looking to build from scratch and aside from helping with the initial kit, the information will come in handy later on.

BRB 2000 are able to fit the FORD 4.6/5.4 FAT motors, why then would you put a Lexus donk in it>>>>

Yeah I'm of the same mind ,the DRB has always looked as though someone has jumped on the doors and broken its back, its ar$e is pulled up and angles the whole back of the car into the back of the seats!!,it's just wrong!!!

I can't say I'm a fan of the DRB shape either. They look very flat across the top of the body compared to other Cobra bodies out there. They have that perky butt happening too.

However they are probably the most common/popular Cobra kit in Australia.

Well as a DRB owner I should step in

As Mike says the DRB is probably the most popular kit in Australia.

And it does have a slightly different back end, but only to those who know what to look for.

If you choose your wheel size right the illusion is even less noticable.

To 95% of the population they would have no idea and hey no Cobra is like for like the same as the original, just some more so than others.

Its definitely not the worst looking kit out there, but questionable whether its the best.

Popular yes...Still not right from a rear prospective and most definitely from a profiled side on shot its back is broken...
NO wheel sizing will ever hide it as the the line from the dash to the rear parcel behind the seat is flat and not curved from the front to the rear!!!!
Why after all these years it has not been fixed is beyond me with the great work that is done by the guys there!!!! one would have thought the idea of getting you car to look as close to the Original shape would be an easy fix in this case!Maybe it is a BIG fix???
But if it sells, well why bother.

Still all the DRB's to have come out of garages over the years look great as they all do!!
Just me bein picky from the Outer!!

It wasn't a real criticism of the kit Pete, just an observation. There's a fair few things I can point out on my own CR body that don't look quite right.

Part of what keeps the hobby interesting is that no two hand built Cobras are really the same.

Yes purely an Observation,

This could apply to loads of the other Manufactures over the years ,
Kits that have simple fixes on side vent sizes and position,exhaust cut outs,wheelarch positioning ,Whole sides of cars with a kink in them..
Some of the best engine bays i've see are DRB .... I love sementry in cars and lines that flow.
We all see different thing in our cars and are happy to either live with them or spend a lifetime trying to fix them....or in my case a lifetime BUILDING IT!!!

Alternate idea
Go onto Cobra Country. Pick the car you want. Buy it and I will look after it for 1 year ie register it here in the US under my name and then send it back to Aussie to my home address and then give it to you. No tax no import issues. No broken backs on a Superformance car.

Oh and what type of car took out the King Cobra title

I think its a case that most people, especially when buying a turnkey have no idea wether the car looks original or not - how many people actually have seen an original close up in Australia? (Yes me - Mk1, 2 and 3 all together

)

I've never liked my back end, but when I bought the car I had no idea that it looked bad - it's only since I've grown some Cobra wisdom that such things are noticed.

DRB front view - excellent
DRB rear view - excellent
DRB side view - hmmm (not excellent)

But then again I doubt you'll ever find a perfect looking car

Even an Aston is not perfect - bloody close though.

when you say ''bigger wheel size " how do you see it improving ..this is a question only ,just trying to understand how .what and why!! so you r saying it improves the side on view???
From the rear as i said it's flat and low across the "parcel shelf" still looks good overall but to the educated eye a distinct difference!!If judged in I personally would mark accordingly because i think this could have been fixed years ago!!...SORRY Dennis & DRB owners again..... m2cw

Paul,

The bigger wheel and tyre (higher profile) takes your eye away from the side view of the body - Simply an illusion.

I think Denis had a pretty good business head on when producing the DRB - marketing for relatively high volume.

Now with Peter Ransom in charge (as it has been for a number of years) I don't think much has changed from a business philosphy.

I suppose why change it when it works pretty well - they must be the largest producer of Cobra's in Australia.

I personally prefer the Harrison as it simply looks a bigger car (more in proportion).
