OK.....laying off the poor old DRB NOW!!!

Obviously a great business for them over the years and Dennis had done what he believed was correct??? But that was many moons ago...
...and yes the Harrison does seem to and has been the weapon of choice for a while now!!

John...See what lies ahead for you??... And this is only the first kit you've asked about!!

Default Most Cobra's are beautiful

PCC,

My first visit to the Cobra Car Club of Victoria meeting way back in 2004 I was walked down stairs (by the then President) and shown the difference between a number of what I would call beautiful Cobra's. To me they all looked the same (as they do for most people) when they are viewed on their own.
As we know this is not the case, I certainly didn't like the DRB rear (personal taste) I really appreciated this person taking the time to point the differences out, so much so I employed him a few years later

I certainly stirred things up there (Just love a good bunfight)
I have also learnt something.

I was laboring under the delusion that a COBRA " REPLICA" was a replica of a Cobra!!!! When really they should be called Cobra "INTERPERATIONS"

And for Chev engines in what is in essence a FORD ................is that legal !!!!!!!!!

Can you imagine the SH1TSTORM if you showed up at a Mustang get together in a Shelby with 350Chev !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok another one .http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...d=1244ACAF52DC This is something I like . Is a car belonging to somebody on the forum ??

Don't tell me it's another one of those dreadful DBR shockers . LOL JOKE They all look the same to me .

Although I did sometimes wonder why some car had more "ROAD PRESENCE" than others .I always thought it was somethimg to do with colour or wheels and tyres .

Hope nobody takes that crack seriously . Any engine in any Cobra is better than what I have at the moment . I shouldn't really stir things up ,after all I'm brand new here .........I should wait a bit longer before doing that

Chev engines have their place .............IN CHEVS Oh yeah and Hot rods and drag car ,kick bum ski boats......... some of the fastest cars around .Its a bugger they are such good donks

For $55K, it's pretty good valve IMHO. Hardtop, softtop, s/charged Lexus V8 (just waiting for more boost) 4 speed auto (will drive nicely).

If it rocks your boat, go check it out

Yeah .I like the look of it in the pics . As I mentioned the dash is different from most I've seen . Is that the norm on DBRs?

LS1 into mustang is actually becoming a popular conversion in the US. The LS1 is significantly lighter than the iron 302 or 4.6 quad cam. The mustang body is lighter than the equivalent Camaro or Firebird. It makes for a kick arse combination on the drag strip.

Here's a build up on one over on the LS1 Tech web page: http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/drag-r...lsx-build.html

This one runs 7.29 in the 1/4

If you one eyed Ford blokes are squeamish you better not look.

Cheers

A Cobra in essence is an AC not a Ford, Ford were just the lucky second place engine choice and agreed to bankroll the project.
Truth be told, if Ford had said no, Cobras may have had hemi's in them.

Now there is a thought!

Hot Rod had the 'Orphan' they built a while back that was a 'fox' bodied mustang with an LS1.

They got loads of hate mail, but it kicked arse.

I can't believe you blokes are being sucked into the Chev/Frodo argument again - by a self confessed "newb"!

John, have you got a budget in mind? If buying an unregistered car have you factored in $1500+ for engineering, nearly $1000 for first rego and RWC test, $1000s for stamp duty, custom wheels, etc? This exercise might help clarify your entry point and how long you have to finish the project. Will you be doing much of the labour yourself or paying someone to help you?

That's been done too. Someone wedged one in an original back in the 70's I believe.

There's been a couple of recent replica ones too. This one's a bit of a beast: http://www.mtdesign.com/cobra/

There's a few with the Viper V10 wedged in too.

Cheers

There was also that Fast and the Furious 67 Mustang coupe with the Nissan RB26 engine wedged in.
